Isn't it great? Every other PB tastes like a sugary mess compared to natural PB. I love a good PB&J, preferably with apricot jam. But my jam/jelly preferences are always changing.
Yes. I've loved peanut butter and PB&J sandwiches all my life. However, a couple of years ago I switched to natural peanut butter and it's just amazing. I still
can eat regular peanut butter, but I prefer natural by a WIDE margin.
My peanut butter of choice growing up was always Peter Pan extra crunchy. I was kind of fortunate in that, at least in Tuscaloosa, AL, where I did most of my growing up, the Wal-Mart "Great Value" brand of peanut butter was made at the same plant as Peter Pan and was virtually (exactly?) identical. I always suspected this growing up, and it was confirmed for me by the salmonella outbreak a few years ago.
Now I usually eat the Whole Foods Everyday 365 brand of natty PB. It's one of the things that is actually cheaper at Whole Foods than the normal grocery stores in my area. It's also the only brand I've seen that actually gives you 18 ounces of peanut butter in the small jar instead of just 16.
I usually go with Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat bread. Good apricot jam is very, very nice on a PB&J sandwich, but I usually cheap out on that part and get some bottom-shelf grape jam or jelly. I recently talked an Indian friend of mine into trying peanut butter. He just bought the Publix store brand (which I actually among my personal least-favorite brands), and loved it. He tried to make a PB&J sandwich, but he only had pineapple jelly, and he said that didn't work out so well.
I wish I had a count of the number of PB&J sandwiches I've eaten in my life. I know it's definitely more than 2500, but I don't know how much more. I'd say it's almost definitely fewer than 5,000.
During my Junior year as an undergrad, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a buddy and I had an hour break between classes that we had together. During that time, we would go to my dorm room and eat PB&J sandwiches. Since the song "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" had recently become a big internet meme, we would refer to this lunch ritual as "Peanut Butter Jelly Time".
Looking back now, someone hearing two guys talk about "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" and then heading to one of their dorm rooms really could have easily gotten the wrong idea.
