Favorite Booze - Rich and Poor?

In Korea, not so many choices, on tap I just go with the local stuff Hite or Cass, which isn't bad, but not stand out.

How is Oscar, no more kick?

Well there was my really very poor younger bachelor days.
Boones Farm before wine coolers were trendy.
How about mix drink of Mad Bird?
Mix Mad Dog 20/20 and Thunderbird.
Worry about toilet prayer later.

For the cross the ocean visits, Military days.
Oscar in Korea years ago when there were weird things in it.
Never enough egg sandwiches to salivate my munchy fix outside.
Mojo in the Phillipines, don't know what all was in it every bar had their blend.

My wife and her friend wanted to drink so her friend's bf and I got a case of Guiness and they decided to get three bottles of Mad Dog. I had never heard of this stuff before, but dismissed it as wussy wine coolers. We went through the Guiness pretty quickly while playing Trivial Pursuit and the girls got bored after a half bottle of Mad Dog. So me and this guy split the rest of their bottle and each drank one of the remaining bottles. Oh my effing God. I was fine and then suddenly I got slammed in the face with a brick. I couldn't stand up and I couldn't stop laughing. My wife started getting nervous because of the maniacal laughter and gave me a slap to snap me out of it. I stopped, looked at her, and then burst out laughing again. I ended up puking all night while having simultaneous nosebleeds. Mad Dog is the devil's drink... not the devil's badass drink like tequila or whatever, but his drink he gives unsuspecting mortals he wants to see make fools of themselves.

Beer is more varied and impressive than wine. Don't believe the wine snobs who say otherwise. That said, once you discover craft beer, your wallet will never be the same again. I've been tracking my beer conquests for some time. Here's the current list as of tonight:

I wish I could afford your pursuit. Beer is one of my favorite hobbies, and I don't mean that I go out and just drink to get drunk. I like the taste of beer. I like it with dinners. If I aim to get drunk, I always go with cheap beer. I have tried an awful lot of beers. I don't have a list, but instead a collection of bottlecaps - most have the names written on back since they don't have labels on the them. I do think it is possible for a person to get into a wine this way. I enjoy wine, but not enough to try dozens of varieties. We drink mainly Chilean Cab-Sauv.

Rich: Laphroig. Love, love scotch. This is by far my favorite. Not for everyone, but when I open the cork and a small layer of peaty smoke rises from the bottle, it's euphoric.

Poor: Jim Beam Rye. Not a lot of Rye whiskey out there, and this distiller got it right.

Beer:

Rich: Depends. Sometimes I go for hoppy beers, sometimes malty beers. Right now I'm loving the Sam Adams Noble Pils. Also depends on which cigar I'm smoking when I drink. Can't go wrong with any of the Duck Rabbit varieties.

Poor: Labatt's Blue or Miller Lite. I'm flexible, but these two are great beers to pound down during any veining of a sports game.

Wine:

All depends on what I'm eating. There are plenty of of five buck chucks that are way better than $100 bottles.

All about taste and palette.

Nice call with Duck Rabbit. I just recently discovered them when they became available in the DC area. Each style I've had from this brewery has been very good.

I have been wanting to get in to scotch lately. I never had it and have been craving a good sipping liquor. I agree about the wine, the brand we buy is about 10 bucks for a medium bottle and is better than some of the expensive crap I have had. Haven't tried Duck Rabbit, but I am a fan of their logo. There is little more pleasurable than a good tasting, but not necessarily expensive beer with a good, but not necessarily expensive cigar.

Most of the time I drink PBR. During the fall I'll buy pumpkin beer, usually Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale or Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale.
