GameStation/PlayStation Questions

Post by peyton77 »

I acquired a bunch of games from someone who had lived overseas, and I originally thought they were regular PS1 disks. However, when I looked at them, I noticed that many of them had "GameStation" markings. I tried these disks on my PS1 (NTSC U/C) and it asks for a Playstation compatible CD.

Among the games I have are:

Final Fantasy IX
Digimon World
Digimon World 2
Chrono Cross
Legend of Dragoon

And a bunch others.

Does anyone know what console these are played on? There is a youtube video for a cheap system similar to the PS1, but does that play disks? These appear to be the full games - FFIX has four CDs.

Are these for the Playstation emulator by Connectix (I think that's the name)?

Any help would be appreciated.

The thread was deleted because I mistakenly broke one of the board's rules. I hope we can continue the discussion here.

Thanks.

Which rule did you break? Duplicate posting?

New members of the board can't post in the Buy/Sell forum for a certain amount of days. I understand the reasoning - I should've read the rules before posting.

I deleted the thread - nothing personal! We have a 2 week membership rule for the B/S/T forum, and if you want to sell these there you either need to wait for that period or ask permission ahead of time (for rare items and the like).

That said, I too am curious what these are!

Can we see the bottom of the discs? That might be CD-rs. Connectix Virtual Game Station was the name but it couldn't play back-ups unless modded.

Yeah those just look like bootleg CD-Rs that anyone would find at a swapmeet, im sure a modded playstation would play them.

They're just crappy bootlegs.

The FF9 has a US ratings on the cover, but Japanese text on the title, then there's European ELSPA information on the back. The 'Playstation' on the left side is the wrong font and the discs aren't black. The Digimon says Gamestation instead of Playstation, says RP instead of a rating and says NTSC on the top left. Digimon says "N.T.S.C" in the top right.

Bootlegs were the first thing that crossed my mind.

These CDs don't have the black backs. However, on the back of each disk, in the center - in tiny font - it has the name of the game printed. "Final Fantasy 9 -- D1 [Disk 1]" To me, that seems professionally done, but I'm not sure if anyone burning game disks and selling at the flea market can do that. Maybe they can. Perhaps someone can inform me.

Thanks for the posts.
