customs and parcelforce

Post by johnnydoyle123 »

hey guys and gal,s

recently i purchased a pc engine duo-r from japan for $250
anyhow it was sent out last monday and i paid ems 3-8 days
i have been waiting and keeping an eye on the tracking system and since the 31-3-2010
it has been stuck in customs charging which is always fun
anyhow im currently on day 8 and still it has not budged which is getting very annoying considering i paid a ridiculous price to get it shipped and as any uk citizens will justify getting consoles from the uk is very tricky business.

so i decided to ring customs and parcelforce anyhow after being given different numbers and playing leap frog for an hour i got sick of it
i just want my bloody parcel ! :(

does anybody know the standard time for customs to get there rears into gear
and has anyone had this problem

and also i did not have i sent as a gift for 50p or whatever it was sent with the full price written on the box and i expect to pay the charges but why take so long

best regards jon

I once waited 3 weeks to get a Super Famicom game. There really isn't anything you can do that I am aware of, short of calling and asking when it may ship out. I bought a CD online from Japan not long ago. The day I purchased it was a Sunday night, and I received it the next Saturday, so not even a full week later. I think it has a lot to do with the size of the object, and how neatly it was packed.

I bought a Pearl power shifter double bass pedal from Canada because the conversion rate thankfully made it half the price that the rip off drum shops in my local area wanted for it; $200 compared to £175… It got stuck in customs for 3 months… I literally gave up on it coming and started getting my refund process through paypal, which was a huge pain in the ass since the seller had tracking up until it left the country. It languished in customs for months, I imagined the Parcelforce employees poking it with a stick thinking it's some sort of weapon of mass destruction, an artificial limb or some sort of arcane machinery from a bygone era until they deemed it safe to alert me that the 'device' was subject to customs charges and has been inspected. They charged me £18 for the privilege of ruining the box (it looked like they repeatedly picked the box up and threw it on the floor until it's contents fell out) and losing not only the allen keys it came with but the manual that it came with... Gee thanks Parcelfarce... Complete joke of a company. The most annoying thing? I had to go pick it up myself from their Leeds depot! This is a delivery firm right?

Yeah, if your parcel is unlucky to get stuck in Customs (many slip through) you can wait for 1-2 months, end up paying £8 "out of EEC tax" and also Customs tax. They work that if your parcel is £17.99 or less and paid for then no tax, if £29.99 or less and declared as "gift" you are also out of tax; after that, you seem to pay I think it is about 10%-25% tax on the value of the item. Parcelforce don't deliver, as you say, i've had it that i've said "here's the exact amount in cash, give me my item please" and they say, "no, you have to go to the depot and collect it".

Tell me about it  . Parcelfarce are exactly that, a bloody farce. IF you are unlucky and get your item stuck in customs you can completely forget about getting it delivered, they completely refuse to do it without you paying them. It's ridiculous, they wanted to charge me AGAIN for postage when I've already paid for damn postage to get it here. I refused since I live less than 15 miles away from the Leeds Depot so I just went there and picked it up, it cost less than the £9-something they wanted to charge me for shipping just 15 miles, and that's even factoring in my time and the petrol it took.
