Modern systems in my lounge

Post by megatron-uk »

My retro stuff is mostly in my dedicated game/office room, but I've got my later systems hooked up in my home cinema setup.

Setup:
Panasonic Viera TX42G10 Plasma with Freesat HD .... awesome piece of kit!
Sony STRDH800 7.1 amplifier / HDMI controller
Topfield PVR5800t Freeview PVR (RGB Scart)
Toshiba EP30 HD-DVD player (HDMI)
Samsung BDP1500 Blu-Ray player (HDMI)
XBox 360 Elite + homebrew 250gb drive (HDMI)
XBox + 750gb drive (Component + Optical)
Playstation 2 Slim with HDConnect IDE adaptor + 320gb drive (Component + Optical)
Dreamcast (VGA)
Popcorn Hour A100 HD Media Player (HDMI)

Speakers:
Tannoy Mercury M2 floor standers on Gale stands... had these nearly 15 year and they're lovely sounding units.
Centre speaker is a new Tannoy Mercury Custom, rear units are some small Pioneer bookshelf cabinets on Atacama stands.
I had the cabling put around the edge of the wooden floor when I moved in, so there are no wires trailing anywhere.

Everything is routed through the AV amplifier, which makes the connection to the TV really simple... of course that just moved the wiring complexity to the amplifier!

Couple images of DC Shenmue in glorious VGA.

I don't quite understand what your question means. If you mean do I have any pictures of my games, then I have them all catalogued on my website: http://targetearth.dyndns.org/vgdb_vg_games, I also just posted some images of my main retro game / office room which shows most of them. I hope that answers what you were asking for!

Sorry, I meant pictures of your games themselves. I personally like to see pics of how people keep there games. For example, if they are complete, in order, and how they are displayed.

Oh right, the pictures in the other thread show the storage of most of my gaming collection... and there are several hundred individual images of all the items on my website.
I usually take pictures of the exterior, disc/manual and reverse of the packaging to record the condition. I'm missing about 65 images from just under 500 titles in the inventory right now - though I've only just started logging the computer game side of things (whereas all the console stuff is 100% up to date).

In terms of how they're stored it's usually alphabetical, and where the packaging style differs between regions (eg Dreamcast & Saturn, but not XBox or PS2) then the regions are also seperate.

One thing I can't stand is wires and controllers all over the place, so all of the control pads in the lounge setup are stored in the drawers in the left hand cabinet (and the consoles & controllers are on individual drawers in the office setup), there's a matching drawer on the right hand side with all of the remote controls for the cinema equipment... I really should think about getting Logitech Harmony or something like that.

One thing about buying your own home though, you think you'll have plenty of space for your collections... but you never do. Don't even get me started on parking space for my cars either!
