Anyone played Lightening Force for the Genesis/MD?

I played hardcore and really stuck it out for around 4 levels on this one. Then I had to use the 99 life trick to see the rest of the game. Graphics and sound are just so good in this game. Can't wait for 6.

I just replayed this last night and got to the level 8 boss before my dog bumped into the CDX and froze the game! I might go back and use some codes to finish it up - haven't played this in years and it is lots of fun! I will say that I didn't remember it being this difficult or having so much slow down. The bosses are quite creative, though, and the graphics are pretty much unparalleled in the Genesis shmup library.

As for Gaiares, when I had the Genesis as a kid that was the only shooter I had for a long time and thus I played it to death. It was was really the first "hard" shmup I was able to beat without codes or anything - the stealing system is/was a great idea.

Fantastic game. One of the best hori shmups ever. Every Genesis/MD owner should play Lightening Force.

This game has singlehandidly renewed my interest in shmups. I have been playing quite a few different ones over the last few days. they are all kicking my ass hardcore, but they are still fun as hell.

I just tried out the Lightening Force rom last night and now I'm ready to buy the cart. It's pretty awesome.

I'm planning on getting Thunder Force III and IV (Lightening Force). I'm debating which one to get first though. Does anyone have any suggestions?

On a side note, I love how the Classic Game Room guy tries to rationalize Sega's renaming of TFIV in his video review.
