Sakura Wars, So Long My Love

Post by J T »

So this is probably the last great game that will be released for the PS2. Who has it? Who has played it?

I just got my copy in the mail, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. It came in a cool box with a bunch of bonus art books and CDs and stuff. I'm looking forward to it. I will probably never buy another PS2 game at launch again (of course, I could be wrong. I thought the same thing after Persona 4).

I've got it, played through the first chapter. It's completely full of anime cliches, but it knows it's full of anime cliches. I think you get the most impact if you run the JP voice track, especially if you watch a lot of fansubbed anime. The battle system's interesting; it uses a gridless turn-based system, and you have a fair number of options for attack right from the get-go. Also, I almost lost in the first fight against the boss.

I ordered the Rozen Queen-exclusive special edition that came with the hardback art book. Still haven't even unwrapped it to get into the rest of the package, but the hardback art book is quite nice.

I'll get into it once I clean my place up a bit. Still need to make room for my PS2.

I also picked it up but have yet to play it still. This may be the last PS2 game I buy. It also has some cool extras like the artbook. :D

Would like to know if this game is worth it or not, granted I knew SW was a huge hit for Saturn in Japan.

The game was released in JP about 5 years ago, so I am not expecting pretty graphics, but I am hoping gameplay is good and consistent throughout.

The graphics are Persona 3 level, if that gives you an indication.
