Try removing the battery and running the laptop straight off the AC power. See if that changes the heat from the power brick. This will help rule out if the battery itself is defective and causing the burn outs.
Not saying it's the problem, but gotta start troubleshooting somewhere.
Laptop computer problem (charging)
Re: Laptop computer problem (charging)
Its a toshiba satellite a215. And if i did sell it, i would use my scam worthy 3 point sell technique. 1) As is. 2) No returns accepted 3) charge problem but a new charger will fix it.
I'd be an asshole if i did that, but with so many assholes in the world, what's the difference.
I'll use my brothers charger and try removing the battery. I'll see what happens, although im kind of scared if tosihba sees i did that they wont fix it if i send it to them after many complaining.

Re: Laptop computer problem (charging)
As long as the battery has a normal release and not some sort of crazy 'take the laptop half apart first' mechanism, I don't see why it would be a problem.tahoe2 wrote:Its a toshiba satellite a215. Re: Laptop computer problem (charging)
Tried to find more info at Toshiba, there are a lot of different Satellite "A215" models.

One of many PDFs.
http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content ... 7May02.pdf
Notice AMP differences of these two CHARGERS?
Amazon shows a 19 Volt 6.3 Amp replacement.
http://www.amazon.com/LAPTOP-ADAPTER-PO ... B001E4T386
Another Amazon listing 19 Volt 1.7 Amp replacement.
http://www.amazon.com/TOSHIBA-Satellite ... B001B01412
Only way to be sure of critical amp size of CHARGER is verifying the Laptop entire part number direct to Toshiba.
The battery might be in bad shape too. Easy to change.
How long does the battery last, run time wise?

Most (as in 99%) laptops have batteries that can be interchanged with a new one (or a fully charged one if on the go.)Hobie-wan wrote:As long as the battery has a normal release and not some sort of crazy 'take the laptop half apart first' mechanism, I don't see why it would be a problem.tahoe2 wrote:Its a toshiba satellite a215. I don't see how that would be an issue with Toshiba either.
