Hey everyone, here's Part 1 of my CES visit from back in January. I wanted to edit it sooner, but I had other things to work on (and real life stuff, including acquiring a certain NES game). Part 2 will up next week.

Pat the NES Punk
Just watch some of his videos...
Although I don't believe he has all that many yet,
just about everyone I have seen has been pretty darn funny.
I'd say he is one of the better retro video game reviewers on the web.
His videos could be seen as to a similar style to Angry Video Game Nerd.
But with his own sense of style and humor; which lacks the sometimes overboard,
often grotesque, humor, and 'graphic language' that the content of AVG often has.
As much as I love AVG, in my opinion, sometimes he goes too far with this;
where it loses it's comedy value.
Anyway, thanks Pat!

Thanks, I think I have about 35 total videos (not including the mini-reviews). I'm getting there! :p

I have been watching your stuff recently and I do like what I see. Your video inspired me to buy Golgo 13 for NES.

No problem... Anyway, I have been using this username and custom Trog avatars that I modified / created for many years...Damn do I love Trog!
Thanks...
because I have always loved that game; both the arcade version, as well as the NES 'Port'.
Haha.... well.. I just haven't had as much 'personal time' as I would like...I think I have about 35 total videos (not including the mini-reviews).
I'm getting there! :p
so I admit, I haven't watched your videos in God knows how long :/
I have been on the job hunt again (I was a Web Developer / Programmer)...
and I spend too much of my time listing, mostly duplicate, items on GameGavel,
so that has been taking a good portion of my time.
But to be honest, all in all, I can't remember a video of yours I didn't like.
I loved your video that had the Nintendo M80 in it with the "funky fresh tunes",
as well as the Skull & Crossbone episodes.
I actually had a guy who created NES reproduction carts create a 'useless' cartridge for me that featured a
Nintendo M82 BIOS / ROM on it. And I helped co-create the label.
Unfortunatly, the BIOS was from the PAL version, so the music is somewhat speedup.
Also, as you basically said in your video, the music is much less 'inspiring'.
The PAL version of the M82 BIOS is the only version I have been able to find.
I have been trying to find the NTSC M82, and M80 BIOS / ROMS every since.
I have a fairly 'large' collection, but your's appears to just completely dwarf mine...
So I can only wonder where you get all of the money that this would take lol
I'm very curious though, and you don't have to answer this, maybe I shouldn't question you, but is this your full-time job'?
You can answer this in as little detail as you want, or not... but I almost always find it interesting learning how 'you guys'
work yourselves up to this point.
Anyway, you have natural talent in front of the camera and very clear voice delivery; that I only wish I had haha
Anyone retro NES fan who hasn't watched a single video of yours yet, honestly doesn't know what they are missing...
so I hope you continue to create them for quite a while.
Didn't mean to 'hijack' your thread with all of this nonsense =P

Cool stuff. I never saw the arcade version as a kid, but I do have it on my MAME cab. The NES version is very underrated, in my opinion. Fun times.Troglodyte wrote: No problem... Anyway, I have been using this username and custom Trog avatars that I modified / created for many years...

Good luck on the job search. I think the economy has bottomed out officially, and it may take awhile to truly pick up real steam again. But keep looking. And yes, the M8's funky demo music is a thing of beauty.Troglodyte wrote: Haha.... well.. I just haven't had as much 'personal time' as I would like...

Oh my R.O.B., I would love to see what that cart looks like. I know there's a youtube video with the M82 screen that is definitely the NTSC version, and I think I had or have seen the rom of it. I have never come across the M8 one though. No one really has an M8, so that's probably why there doesn't seem to be a rom out there. :pTroglodyte wrote: I actually had a guy who created NES reproduction carts create a 'useless' cartridge for me that featured a

No, video-making is not my job... just a hobby (I have a real 9-5). Very, very few people who do these reviews do it as a full time job. There's AVGN, maybe Spoony and a few others. In order to support that, you need a *massive* following that's large enough to support the ad revenue raised and being big enough to be picked up on a site that will let you in on their ad revenue. That hasn't happened with me yet, and who knows if it will.Troglodyte wrote: I'm very curious though, and you don't have to answer this, maybe I shouldn't question you, but is this your full-time job'?

I'm a fairly small fish in a big pond when it comes to this stuff, but I appreciate the support.

Re: Pat at CES 2010 Part 1: Girls and Gizmos!
Thanks for answering those questions.
I'll try and locate that cartridge and scan a picture or two in at some point.
By the way, I just watched Pat at CES 2010 Part 1.
It was incredibly fun to watch, and simply hilarious
I actually made it the whole way through without being the least bit bored.
I loved the part where you made fun of Dell for their, how do I say this, 'lack of presentation'
And then, well, let's just say your video production skills are far better than your ability to sing
Anyway, I totally 'pimped' the video on my Facebook page after watching it.
Keep up the good work!
EDIT: Just saw your location information, it looks like you might have finally actually married that Nintendo M82.
Congrats!
Your little 'love affair' reminded me of this wonderful scene in Ghostbusters 2:

Egon: [talking about the mood slime after the yelling at it] We're running tests to see if we can get an equally strong positive response
Ray: We sing to it, talk to it, say caring supportive things to it.
Peter Venkman: You're not *sleeping * with it, are you Ray?
[Ray shakes his head; Egon looks embarrassed]
Peter Venkman: [noticing Egon, teasingly] You hound.
Winston: It's always the quiet ones.
[shakes head in disbelief]
