Yeah, basically, the Star Wars remakes just succeeded in cluttering the screen up with a bunch of crap. There's no reason to have THAT much going on in a scene, taking attention away from the main characters.
As RedLetterMedia says, it's like having a bunch of stand-ins waving their arms and yelling "LOOK AT ME!" while the protagonists/antagonists are having a quiet chat.
If you haven't watched it yet, here's RedLetterMedia's Seven Part analysis of The Phantom Menace. It's almost as long as the movie itself, but it's a hell of a lot more entertaining.
Have you ever walked out of the theatre because of a movie?

that was the most entertained I've been by anything Star Wars related since the mid-80's
brilliant. (and well worth 70 minutes of my time.)

I actually forgot about the only movie I have walked out on. During Irreversible, my wife (then girlfriend) had to walk out of the theater during one particular scene (you know which if you've seen it) to puke in the bathroom. I thought it only right to leave with her. We saw the tail end of Better Luck Tomorrow afterward, since we enjoyed it the first time around.

I was very, very close to doing this when I saw Hostel. Why the fuck did I ever agree to
a)see that movie
and b)PAY NINE DOLLARS to do so??

I guess I'm fortunate in that I don't see movies in the theatre very often and I'm cautious about what I see, since I can get them on DVD cheaper than seeing them, so I don't need to worry about walking out on something.
I think I saw all of 5 movies last year including taking my daughters to Hannah Montana the movie (which despite being HM was actually a very good father/daughter movie), Princess and the Frog, and Up. I'm a big Disney animated geek so it's all good.
I think I also saw The Hangover and G.I. Joe, nothing worth walking out on.
