If it makes you feel any better, I can't see stereograms. My brain makes me focus on the details and I can't 'let go' and look through th epicture.noiseredux wrote:the red/blue glasses have never worked for me. I dont' know why.

I dont have a lazy eye, but my vision is rather poor. I wear pretty strong glasses.crux wrote:Likely one of your eyes is extremely dominant, assuming you don't have a squint or a lazy eye (amblyopia).noiseredux wrote:the red/blue glasses have never worked for me. Niode wrote:Heart of Darkness for PS1 came with some Blue and Red glasses in the case. Good luck finding a copy with them in though. It's pretty rare now. It's more common in PAL though.
Okay now see there Niode because you put that 4 letter word "Rare", I had to go on a hunt. Knowing Heart of Darkness glasses are hard to come by, I went on a prowl for Sly 3. I found a pristine copy with 3D glasses still attached inside the game book! Crisp, Brand new, no kid yanked this pair out! No, not about to tear those perforations, it'll stay right inside that game book, have others lying around.CRTGAMER wrote:I'll have to look at Sly Cooper and Heart of Darkness again for the 3D mode.

So I played Sly 3 pass the Intro game play, now getting ready to hit the Hazard Course. A simple 3rd person game with great cartoon effects. Normally prefer computer animated look, but the "Jet Grind" cartoon look is pretty good. No 3D Red - Blue lenses needed yet though.
I have Heart of darkness (no Rare glasses) for the PS1, missed knowing about Red-Blue mode, may have to give that 3D mode a go to.

I've always wondered why the cutscenes in Heart of Darkness looked so crappy. I'll have to try them with some anaglyph glasses.

3D is so gimmicky.
How long will it last?

3-d was a trend in the 60s, 80s, and its a trend now. It doesnt enhance watching a movie anymore than hd does. Now its been a flop so far for games. But if they could do it right get rid of the red and blue glasses and give some tinted polarized lenses. I think it could enhance the fps market.

red/blue glasses and stereograms don't work for me either. Unless I actually close my right eye, I don't see from my left beyond just peripheral vision. That said, the whole thing is rather silly.

3D never got huge before and it won't get huge now either. It's just the latest trend that all the tv and gaming companies are going to try to cash in with and tell us all how we won't be able to live without it a year or so from now.
3D interactive gaming is definitely the future. But not with cheap glasses or cheesy 3D-effects. It will most likely be centered around virtual reality-style headsets and full body suits with ultra-sensitive sensors that track all bodily motion and react/vibrate to things in the game like the present "Rumble" feature in today's games does. Only if you're playing an FPS and someone shoots you in the leg than the sensors will vibrate or give you a mild pulse effect to let you know exactly where you got hit. Or if someone tosses a grenade at you and blows one of your legs off.. that whole leg will vibrate like crazy to simulate the general effect of that grenade.
So on and so forth

ain't happened yet; even-though "Virtual Reality" pretended to get pretty close
never tried any of the new fancy 3D-glasses, but I do have a pair of Blue/Red's laying around
might give it a go, if I find a decent enough game to play them with
