Action replay Plus broken?

Post by dragonsho »

I ordered an Action Replay Plus from play-asia. I just tried to run Metal Slug and got an error I think saying that there was no 1mb expansion in it. I then tried out the 2nd disc from Dungeons And Dragons which requires 4mb and got the same message except it says 4mb. Is it broken?

Do you see the Action replay screen before running a game ?
You may have problems with the contacts of the cart slot, you could clean it.

Yeah, Action replay boots. The import function also works. How do you suggest cleaning it?

Edit:

OK WHOLE NEW PROBLEM. The memory card slot no longer reads my interact memory card OR the memory card in action replay. I'm starting to think that the slot is just busted.

Edit again:
I'm pretty sure the cartridge slot is busted. How does one go about replacing the motherboard? Is there any soldering required?

replacing the whole motherboard doesn't require soldering, replacing just the cart slot will

I guess my next question is pretty nooby but

Is it the motherboard that the modchip connects to? I'm just wondering if I can just throw in a 1st gen mobo instead of trying to get the same one. The saturn I have is the one that works 99% of the time with modding. Do I need to find the same one to replace the mobo and install the chip easily (since it's the most moddable system)?

Edit:

Just won a round button saturn on ebay. Hopefully it's the 32pin model.
