Currently playing through Front Mission 3. I've always really enjoyed strategy RPGs, and the mech-based combat of the FM series is a lot of fun. It upsets me that this series has never really taken off in the West.

I am now 7 hours into Shadow Hearts for the ps2 and i'll have to say the story and dialogue are very well done and the combat system is interesting.

However i ignored this game for a long time because frankly the cover art really does not do the game justice. It wasnt until i had tried out Shadow Hearts : Covenant i got interested in the franchise.

Seriously the 3d rendering done here is really appalling and that guy in the background which is actually one of the bad guys yeah thats not a spoiler looks out of place and in fact makes the whole thing look a lot worse.

been meaning to install that for a long time now

*but*

I'm stuck with Ultima IV at the moment (actually XU4; the remake ^^)
trying to get Bard's Tale 1 going (Amiga)
and Wasteland (PC)
and my neverending struggle with Dwarf Fortress (Adventure mode)
and getting on with some Angband from time to time

and... Twilight Princes (albeit, not as much of an RPG as adventure, but 'tis a question of definitions, depending on gamer)
C-64 will never die

Starting to get really annoyed with FF 13. Everyone talks about how the game opens up when you get to Gran Pulse. That's not true at all. Every enemy in the area is five times more powerful than you, which means you have to skip right past it and head right back to linear land. I'm getting really tired of having my hands tied in this game. You have NO freedom whatsoever in FF 13. I can't even level grind because every enemy that I can kill at this point in the game gives crap CP points and the ones that don't can kill my party in seconds. I have found no way to grind for cash either, which would help me buy materials for weapon upgrades. You only get money in FF 13 when the game wants to give it to you

You can't do ANYTHING but keep following the straight path the developers put before you. It's starting to annoy me. I used to have fun getting five star ranks in every fight, but I have reached a point in the game now where that seems impossible because my party is weak and the game is giving me NO way to power them up. So basically, I can't really vary up my experience in any way right now. It's like your hands really are tied. This is the most restrictive FF game I've ever played. I'm starting to feel like I should just sick back and let the game play itself since I have no freedom at all

EDIT: And will I ever get to play another FF game where summons aren't useless? God, they really don't give you much to work with in this game

I've set aside FFXIII for now. I beat the 63 missions and got my ass massively handed to me by the new and more badass Adamantoises but then my apartment had a power blip. So I lost my progress. Fortunately, all I lost was the Gigantaur kill, and I'm kinda glad. Now I can go back and farm Adamantoises to get the two Trapazoihedrons for my other two party members and then see if I can beat Mission 64 and the new evil guys. Then I'll consider it complete.

Now I'm spending time on Resonance of Fate, and every so often a little Baldur's Gate. I installed Baldur's Gate trilogy to play the whole thing through, but I'm having trouble adapting to the older rules and clunkier interface, compared to modern titles like Dragon Age.
