Have you ever walked out of the theatre because of a movie?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I saw Transformers 2 with my kids, which I absolutely would have walked out of had they not been with me.

I considered walking out of Splice when I saw it at Sundance, but it ended up being the kind of terrible that turned around back to funny. There was literally one particular scene, presumably meant to be taken seriously, where half the audience erupted in laughter. The director didn't show up for the Q&A after the movie, which makes me suspect he might have gotten some brutal questions after previous viewings (or he was just busy).

There's been several movies I've considered walking out of because of an offensive audience. During Precious there were people literally laughing at the abuse. Fucking laughing. During another movie, I don't remember which, there were kids throwing stuff at the screen and in general being jackasses until they were thrown out of the theater.

Mostly cuz ticket prices are so high, that walking out of the movies is illogical. And not to mention brainless. Not even if you're rich.
It's perfectly logical to walk out of a movie theater, regardless of ticket prices. It's a matter of marginal utility.

If you spent $10 on a drink, and found out it tasted like rancid meat... would you continue to drink it, or throw it the hell away?

Watching the whole thing just because you spent money on it is illogical. You aren't getting your money back either way, so you may as well take the path that involves less suffering.

I walked out of the first Transformers movie after about 30 minutes. It was so god-awful. I didn't care if it cost me 1,500 yen, I had to bail.

I walked out of LotR - Return of the King
endured it through 10-15 minutes; then I felt the urge of starting to rip off people's heads

needless to say; I did not take much liking to (nor did I pay for watching) the first two of episodes of this never-ending cash-cow
If these are your examples of terrible movies then you definitely need to go watch some Uwe Boll.

There are 2 films I've seen in the last year where I would have walked out if I hadn't been with friends:

- Transformers 2: This is the worst film I've ever seen. The humour was terrible. The whole storyline was confusing and boring. I never go to the toilet during films, but during this I did. I actually bumped into one of my friends on my travels and we spent like 5 minutes talking about how bad it was and how we'd rather not go back in.

- Un Prophete: My friends are kinda big into films and wanted to go and see this French one about life in a French prison. I've enjoyed foreign films in the past so I didn't mind but this one was soooo looooooong and the story was hard to follow. Seriously, this film did not end. It seemed to go on for an eternity. Worse thing was, they enjoyed it so I went down in the bad books for badmouthing it on the way home. :?
Some people did actually walk out on this. Oh how I envied them...

By the way, I posted in this thread before reading the rest of it. It's so satisfying to go back through it for the first time and see Transformers 2 cropping up numerous times. What a pile of shite.

Honourable Mention: King Kong (Peter Jackson). Long car rides have passed quicker than it did.

I always walk out of a theater because of a movie. I also always walk into a theater because of a movie too.
