Diablo 2 patch and ladder reset coming 3/23/10

To anyone who still has Diablo II:

There is a ladder reset coming today (3/23) along with a patch being released. Does anyone here still play or would like to play on the new ladder? I play USEAST softcore, account is *bigd09

There's an extremely good chance I'll start playing again when this semester is over. I've probably put more hours into D2 than any other game, playing, and subsequently quitting and letting my characters get erased, on at least 4 separate occasions.

Preaching to the choir on that one. I've been on and off of it since it came out, My last "retire" was last spring due to this patch being constantly pushed back. Guess that's how Blizzard works, it's done when it's done.

I haven't played Vanilla D2 in ages. I got out of it when my level 82 barb got corpse popped (it was my own damn fault) and I lost most of the high level items I had painstakingly collected. It was a Sorc hunter that ran two Ravenfrosts and two Lightsabers with max run/walk through charms to completely dominate the sorcs of the time (who used frozen orb and lightning storm). Now I mostly play Eastern Sun when I play.

Wow that sounds like 1.08 if I'm not mistake, so about 3 or 4 years ago for you? Things have changed substantially since then.

I think it might have been 1.09, actually. It was whatever patch was before the synergy patch. I dabbled a bit in vanilla when synergies came out but I just didn't have the patience to level another character again.

Do any of these official patches up the resolution, or is it just the unofficial ones?

Looking at the most recent patch you can now run in windowed mode and set the DirectDraw to scale the blit, so you can run it in widescreen.

I have this game and I have never played it. I think I need to give it a try.
