Yeah, I saw that one first actually, not knowing the character in the prison cell at the start of the movie is also the main character in I Stand Alone, if you liked Irreversible, then I Stand Alone will work for you too, personally I liked Irreversible more because it fucked with my head a little more than I Stand Alone, there are also some very Godard things about ISA which were really cool

Irreversible was such a tragic movie because of that haunting 'happy' ending. I never seen a Godard film before. Is there a certain one to start from?

I agree the "happy ending" was what did it for me too, Godard is amazing, nothing like any of the horror or super intense stuff you would expect from something like irreversible. He is one of the founding fathers of French New Wave Cinema, and is one of my favorite directors ever, I would start with the movie Breathless, which is what most people would suggest, and that is because its amazing, a milestone in cinema and an orgasm for film professors and students everywhere, regardless of its hype...it is a great movie, his other greats include Masculine Feminine and pierrot le fou, he has sooo many movies, but those three are my favorites

I have heard of Godard but I just never had an opportunity to see one of his films but I will try to look for those 3.

Soviet Movie night over here, I also just remembred Liquid Sky, which was filmed by a russian production team, but in america. Quite an oddity, isnt it? After all, the union was still going around 82.

I loved it, though it might not be everyones cup of tea. (story is pretty absurd, I even found the alien premise just a facade to cover up a display of the early 80s and a unique sub culture.)

Thanks again for reminding me of the title of Kin Dza Dza, it deserves a rewatch.

Regarding cartoons, nothing particular comes to mind. In fact, I would need some suggestions too. 60s up to the 80s, im sure theres lots of cool stuff.

Btw 80's, After Hours is quite cool, but no cartoon, heh. I wish I would still have the bunch of american vintage movies. From the 40s over 50s and onwards.

Other then that, ugh. Have you seen the original, 1975 Death Race 2000? Nothing special, just a funny laugh and good old 70s stuff. Even contains Sylvester Stallone flashing his wang, beating up on a women and getting his ass kicked for it by a cool guy with mask and a cape. If that dosnt spell wholesome family entertainment... The movie is pretty much like the Carmageddon game.

I wish Really tough to actually find viewable material, ironicly both Stalker and Kin Dza Dza I was able to watch on google video, as the only source I could find.
