Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Yeesh, easy on the ellipses, you'll wear the poor button out! One period is enough to end a sentence with.

That is all,

This.

When I go through the 'landslide feeling' as I call it, I put everything except my SNES away in the garage. And I leave only 3-5 games out with it, as to avoid the 10-20 minutes I spend looking through saying "Umm..not this one either..." to each of the hundreds of games I own.

In particular, spending some time with games you played a lot as a kid helps too, I've found.

Agreed. Should have added one or removed two period(s). Myself, I try to keep it at three periods, but I do love me some hockey.

Maybe you are smarter than me then :) growing up I would trade in games that I had beat and thought I was done with, and years later have said, I want to play (so and so) again, only to find that the price of the game has skyrocketed

I go through phases with my hobbies, where I'll spend most of my free time on one hobby, then after a few weeks I'll switch to another hobby, and won't touch the previous one for weeks or months. Right now I'm in a video game phase, but at various times I'll be in a movie phase, or a TV show phase, or a music phase. I find that when I come back to a hobby after it's been on hiatus, that it seems much more fresh and exciting.
My games for sale: Racketboy, Amazon, eBay
My systems: NES, Nintendo 64, GameCube (Game Boy Player), Wii / Game & Watch: Ball, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP (x2), Nintendo DSi / Genesis (Sega CD, 32X), Saturn / Game Gear / PlayStation, PlayStation 2 / Xbox / Mac (Windows PC) / iPhone, iPad

While I've always gamed (even through busy times in life) I would say that I found a lot more free time to game (and more enjoyment of the hobby) after I was done with higher education. A) I could afford the occasional ebay/forum spree and delve into a platform or genre, B) I was in a position where I could plan my own schedule, and C) I had less of a social life!

On point C: Gaming has never been much of a social thing for me aside from playing with people I lived with (siblings, roommates, now a spouse and probably in a few years a kid). Being social was get-togethers, parties, road trips, etc. Gaming was a lower priority.

Now, though - in moving away from my college/grad school buddies into a new area where I don't know as many people - I am afforded more time to indulge in a more personal hobby. A few years ago, I spent most of the time I now spend gaming doing more social things. Now that I'm less social, I'm more of a gamer.

Although sometimes I worry that these forums are substituting for a more healthy social life...
