Hah, and to think I just thought something very similar when checking out how a guy build a computer with MAME in a NeoGeo cab, playing emulated NeoGeo roms ;_;pepharytheworm wrote:Nothing wrong with emulation, but to me its only pretending to be something its not, like its.............. well.............. emulating

I agree i too would rather be 8-bit than 128-bit
And its also good to see another commodore 64 fan here

Re: a plead to be shot down
I don't care what my "grade" is, but I think if you want it to say 8-bit and it's possible for the admins to do it they should. So long as it doesn't open the flood gates for oodles of people asking for similar exceptions.

I post and read on these forums to learn and spread knowledge and try to make every post count for something. Some members here post pointless crap just to increase their post count. Posting filler crap does nothing to improve these forums. I personally think post counts and labels should be removed as they really mean nothing anyways. This would cut the crap posts down and remove some of the hostility towards the newer members.

Completely agree. Reminds me of all the crap from the N-sider forums. Anyone else remember those?corn619 wrote:I post and read on these forums to learn and spread knowledge and try to make every post count for something. Interesting perspective about going backwards in relation to Retro vs going forward.
You can change your profile settings and add a list of your systems to your signature. Even Boldface that you are a proud 8-Bit junkie. I am a Commodore fan myself, see my signature. Even when you get the Next-Gen moniker your signature shows where your interest is.
As far as concern about being the "New Guy", no worries. Everyone has experiences to share, and fresh contributions are always a good thing.
Out of curiosity I know your Avatar is an older 8 bit character, but where? Almost looks like Bluto in the Popeye Arcade. Or maybe a Sprite in Bagman?

Re: a plead to be shot down
That would be cool - put me down for 64-bit. For some reason the N64 is just my console. Maybe it's because it's the first console I was there for all the way through - from the pre-launch hype, to the release day, all the way through until the Gamecube superceded it. Plus, it just seems to have the best games. And that's all that matters.Limewater wrote:
I don't have strong feelings about it, but I also think the ranking system is a little odd. I lurked here a long time before joining, and when I first visited the forums, I just assumed that the "-bit" designation was intended to represent which gaming era you identify with most. I quickly realized, though, that it was actually based on post count.

tl;dr: Little boy likes his N64. What's your opinion?

hehe, I heard another person on another forum, ask the exact same, whether it was Bluto ^^CRTGAMER wrote:Interesting perspective about going backwards in relation to Retro vs going forward.

it's the main character from Rags to Riches; and old, old Commodore 64 game; I don't think he has a name,

the best game ever to face the industry; unfortunately the concept is long gone, since nobody wants to play a vagabond these days....
(that and the fact that the game has no "ending", can put people off)
C-64 will never die

Re: a plead to be shot down
Why not just get rid of the title all together and once a person has reached a certain post level (or other designation of level), allow them the choice of what they want, be it 8 bit 16 bit or "Dragon slayer"...

With the current software (PHPBB3) it is not possible for the mods to edit your titles. Sorry.
Maybe in the future this sort of feature will be added. For the time being it isn't available.
