I just got my 111 in 1 MVS cart in the mail this morning. I was 2 hours late for work because of it! Haha

It works perfect with the games I played so far.

I also ordered all new buttons and joysticks from Happ along with a new CPO from these guys.

All that, some new lexan and a rub down with some all purpose cleaner and I should be in business.

It will probably be a couple of weeks before I start the monitor swap. I am just enjoying the cab as is for the time being. As soon as I get over the "newness" of the thing I will start. But expect lots of pics!

This dude made a mini cab from scratch, maybe he has plans or could get you some. Let me know, I am curious.

Yeah, they also make a 138 in 1 cart, but that one is far more complicated to use and supposedly only works well in a single slot MVS.

My 111 in 1 cart works great though. My girlfriend hated my Neo Geo till I introduced her to two player puzzle bobble.. haha!

In all this excitement I forgot.
If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for your NEO GEO MVS Arcade?
Saw other machines in your pic of the store, where did you buy it?

I don't mind telling you at all. You just have to listen to my story first. :)

I actually ordered my Neo Geo AES from these people.
http://neotropolis.net/

They mod AES consoles to do component out and add little LED bells and whistles...

Here is a shot of my actualy AES they are still in the process of modding for me. Should be done this week. I will definately post pics once its in my hands.
Image

They are doing their component and LED power indicator mod, along with modding my two controllers with MVS arcade matching LEDs. I also picked up, the factory box/packaging(Gold Box) a memory card and a "free" game.

So once I ordered the AES, I started hunting for games and realized that the AES carts are FAAAAR more expensive than most of their MVS counterparts. Then I discovered that there was an MVS to AES converter.

http://www.arcadeshock.com/items/access ... detail.htm
Image

The converter is expensive, but i figured in the long run it would save me money because I wouldn't have to buy those super expensive AES carts. So I started looking for MVS games for sale online, eBay, Neo-Geo forums(they are super assholes there) and then googled linked me to this site.
http://lyonsarcade.com/
They had two Neo Geo MVS cabs for sale, one was the mini. I was even looking to buy a cab it just happened!

I didnt even know there was such a thing and when I saw the price, I bought it on the spot. They still have a MVS 4 slot for sale!

It was only $499, but they are having a spring sale and took $50 bucks off. So I only paid $450 and I was only charged $150 to have it shipped right to my door! From date of purchase to arrival, it took less than a week! The dealer and I both live in the South, so I am sure thats why shipping was so cheap, that and it weighs half of a full sized cab.

I am still thinking about buying that full size 4 slot, especially since its only $750 and I see them going for over $1,000 on eBay.

I couldn't be happier with the little guy though. Fits perfect in my house. I had a bunch of people over for my birthday this past weekend. Even the non gamers found it amazing. I just wish I had my 111 in 1 cart at that time. :)

That is amazing how little you spent, I still can't get over that 111 game cart.

My Ultimate Arcade Machine Dream, upon ever getting approval of the wife is a Space Harrier Motion Arcade.

I would (Nobody Scream, spit is hard to clean off your LCD monitor.) Mame it and have all the games react to the chair controls. Room and Money, have niether, maybe if I win the Lotto. Space Harrier is one of the few cabs I found where the motion chair really responds to movement of the controller.

Your NEO GEO as far as versatility of games is great as a Mame Cab. Beats Mame as far as maintaining close to original issue.

OK, so I took some time to take some much more accurate measurements with the glass and bezel off of the screen.

19.5" wide
Image

12.5" tall
Image

14" deep, at it's shallowest point
Image

I am having a decision delima though. I can't decide what monitor to get again... CRT or LCD. Everyone says CRT will be the best picture for my MVS and I believe them, but obviously I want to update it a bit with a larger monitor. Now I think a newer model 19" CRT arcade monitor might fit. Depth seems to be the only concern, but I think the newer ones are much shallower... I just cant find dimensions anywhere for the damn thing.

Image

I KNOW the LCDs will fit... I just worry about the picture quality.

http://happ.com/monitors/49277330.htm

I am assuming either of these monitors will connect to my MVS much easier than adapting it to connect with a PC monitor via VGA. I am just trying to make the best choice. Cost is really of no issue as none of the options are too expensive.

Way I see it I have 4 options..

1.) The Cheapest

PC monitor with video converter, but picture quality might be an issue

2.) The Sure Thing

Just buy another new 13" arcade CRT

3.) The Maybe

Try to fit a 19" arcade CRT, need dimensions still

4.) The Hopeful

Brand spankin new 19" arcade quality LCD monitor, still curious as to how picture might look on these

So based on my updated pics and my options WHAT SHOULD I DO?!? Haha!

THANKS! :)

P.S. crtgamer - I was able to get a pic of the burnt in game.. posted on the other thread!

Thanks saw the screen burn. How did a Namco Monitor get inside a NEO GEO Arcade? Recycled at factory?

On deciding on monitors.
Have you tried any comparisons of regular LCD vs CRT TVs at local store using a Non-HD console?
It will give you a rough idea of what to expect when you go with a monitor.

Lighter space saving LCD would be easier to install. LCD or CRT computer monitor would be more forgiving on pic quality compared to similar TV with S-Video. For the more accurate in keeping that Arcade Retro look and considering the resolution of your MVS, I am also leaning towards CRT. Probably biased considering my Avatar Name.

If still undecided between LCD vs CRT TV from store test with Non-HD console:

A not too expensive test.
Buy the Transcoder for prepping your MVS to VGA.
Borrow a trusting friends LCD monitor and bench test it.
Get a cheap throw away CRT VGA monitor at Goodwill to verify PIC quality.
If happy with friends LCD monitor pic quality then buy biggest LCD that will fit with Shell.
If happy with CRT, then get the biggest monitor that will fit after you gut it out of its old shell.

The HAPP monitor pricey risk, may not fit just right.
