This isn't too difficult to figure out... unless you factor in the possibility
of unreleased / proto ROMs; as well as regions different than the U.S.

There appear to be 296.

JU is a ROM code for USA/Japan; so this means that the ROM does not differ
between these two regions. So it should be counted here, as one 'release.'

I'll see if I can come up with a different list for comparison's sake

I trust the above site, and have been using it for years; so I would tend to believe there are 301 (total U.S. releases).

Thing is; that states the following:

There are 387 published games for the N64.
Some of the games were country exclusive.

With Japanese and European exclusives, factored in; 301 U.S. only
releases versus 387 total releases; does seem fathomable (in my opinion).

My list (from digital press) shows 296 US released games but there are some alternate versions in that list such as Clay Fighters 33 1/3 Sculptures' Cut, so your definition of the number of releases may vary.

What games does the 298 or 301 lists have that ours do not?

Okay, so after reading over the lists, the official Nintendo list is missing the following:

International Superstar Soccer 2000
International Track & Field 2000
New Tetris
PGA European Tour Golf
Razor Freestyle Scooter
Stunt Racer 64
Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey '98

and includes one game that the larger list does not:
Space Invaders Activision December 1999

The Official Nintendo list also had Conkers bad furday and Star Fox listed twice, so I removed those two as well.

I'd consider ClayFighter 63⅓ a different release; at the very least.
I'm not sure about the other games in the list that have possible variations;
but as I am sure most of the people on here are aware; there are two versions,
the one that was widely released to standard stores, and the version with extra
features (called Sculptor's Cut); which was only released in Block Buster stores.

(I happen to own Sculptor's Cut, but not the original version)

(BTW: you had a small typo with the title of the game;
you had it as Clay Figher 33 1/3. No big deal, but I corrected it)
