What's with the sexism and homophobia lately?

I think the best course of action is to put in the rules that bigoted comments such as "faggot" or "nigger" are not allowed.

I've actually never seen anyone in this community use those either of two words, or any similarly loaded word, prior to this thread.

Really, this thread has blown this problem out of proportion. Nobody is running around on this forum indiscriminately calling people "faggots." On the rare moment it does arise, however, it's more like an innuendo or a joke that might make a woman or a gay person uncomfortable, so it's never as clear-cut as the example you brought up.

I can't fathom any circumstances under which you could use either of those words without having some malicious intent. On the other hand, it's never bigotry for the sake of bigotry in this context: it's just some guy trying to make a joke without considering the repercussions for a female or homosexual reader. I think we assume too much that everyone else here is a heterosexual male.

And yes, some not very bright people use those insults in this very forum.

And yea he is, he has one mighty fine looking lady friend too. No idea if they are married though. I suppose so. Who wouldnt want to be married to this guy? He looks good and has a incredible amount of humor. Pity he kinda fadet away, like most temporary comedians in japan.

A lot of people also throw around 'Egay' as well. Heck, a fair number of people work homosexual slander into the names of things they have a negative opinion on.

I've seen "fag" thrown around a couple of times. I only saw the word "nigger" when used like this:

I was playing Counter-Strike with my friend the other day and some prick on the server called me and my friend "niggers".

Maybe so, but if this forum is going to keep growing, we're going to have to figure out a way to deal with this before it becomes a problem. Before you know it, GameSpot and GameFAQs forumers are going to show up here.
