Download the trial for Shadow Complex, I hated it. I don't see what the fuss is about it's very very generic. If you like those types of games, just go play Metroid or Castlevania instead. I just didn't get any joy from the game at all, my friend purchased the full game on the hype and was severely disappointed.

Pac-Man Championship Edition is a must for anybody with a 360.

Perfect Dark is good so far (online play it very ropey right now, and the controls have been mega dumbed down for the halo generation)

Chime is an awesome little music/puzzler which plays like a cross between tetris and lumines. Music from Phillip Glass (I bought the game mainly because it had Phillip Glass in it, the man is just pure win), Paul Hartnoll and Lemonjelly.

Castlevania: SOTN a slightly remixed version of SOTN but definitely one of the cheapest ways to play the game legitimately

Ikaruga for obvious reasons

Braid if you like puzzle/platform games

I'm not going to mention any of the obvious ones you guys have it covered.

Also, if you find yourself with a couple of points spare, get the Impossible Game and I Maed a Game with Zombies in It from the indie store.

Here's what I've got if you want to see some options:

I also recommend the compilation discs because they have them bundled on a physical format for a better price ...

See here for some of listings too:

Here's a nice review of Shadow Complex (made by people who love Super Metroid);

Hmm some pretty negative opinions about Shadow Complex.
I have to say though while it does mimic Metroid and Castlevania quite a bit I didn't really feel it had the same kind of atmosphere or at least that's what I'm getting from the DEMO I just completed.
However I'm not quite sure if it's worth taking the plunge just yet because the demo overall didn't really do much for me. I didn't even feel that it ended at an exciting point where I had to carry on and purchase the game.

Lol after that i might just replay Super Metroid again it is the first game I played in the series and also my favourite.
I guess it's hard to live up to near perfection though with the atmospheric music and great graphics.

Ah well enough of Shadow Complex I'm a firm believer that you can't really compare a game until you have fully played it or if it's so uninteresting to you that it just doesn't hold your attention enough to play it any more.

Less Shadow Complex more shmups please :P

I'm glad you tried it. I really don't understand the fuss surrounding this utterly bland and cookie cutter metroid-vania clone. It simply offers nothing new or exciting, the story is just boring even the main character is just generic quite how it got so many 8s and 9s out of 10s is beyond me. Some magazines/sites even lauding it as the best game on XBLA, i'm-sorry-what-come-again? When SOTN is sat there, on the same damn service which is hands down a better game on every single point?

Regarding Shmups, there isn't that many on XBLA unfortunately. Ikaruga, Trigger Heart Exelica, R-type Dimensions, Geometry Wars 1 & 2, 1942 aaaand that's about your lot for the western XBLA (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong). I'm sure there are more available on Japanese XBLA though.

If Shatter ever comes to XBLA then you should definitely get that, it's a cross between arkanoid and a shmup.

Niode- Yeah, it really is a bland and dull clone of Super Metroid. People just notice it because of all the hype about how the developers are the biggest Super Metroid fans ever. SotN is MUCH better. Personally, I like that more than Super Metroid myself. :D Then again, I'm much more of a Castlevania guy.
