Wow, another person who defends cell phones as if they were people. I'm not "insulting' the iPhone, all I was saying was there was legitimate reasons to not like it. Personally, I couldn't give less of a shit about the iPhone or any other 'smartphone'. If you're going to say I don't know what I'm talking about, how about getting your head out of your ass? See, I can do it too.
I'm not defending it as a person, I'm defending it on the premise that I'm not an idiot for buying it nor is it a "terrrible game platform compared to DS/PSP", which is what so many people claim. If you don't want a smartphone, fine, but don't go running off about how your DS is better.

1. true, but how many phones run that adequately? Can you stream ScrewAttack videos on any other cell phone? doubtful.
The Nokia n900 supposedly runs many Flash Video sites just fine. Don't know about Java.
Which also leaves out a number of features the iphone has, most notably a multi-touch touch screen. Also, Steve Jobs is trying to get rid of flash because it's so horribly inefficient for most applications.

2. What DRM? every song on my iPhone is pirated, so is every movie. I can make my own ringtones for FREE too: open up iTunes, right click the song you want, go to options and change the start and stop times of the song to be 30 seconds or less, right click it again and click "convert to AAC," drag the new file to the desktop, rename it "song.m4r" instead of "song.m4a", double click it, BAM! free ringtone. It sounds like alot of steps, but it literally takes less than a minute.
The App library has DRM.
and what download service doesn't? Even my old Nokia N-Gage QD apps required I submit my IMEI number to get a reg key specifically for my phone. When jailbroken, you can do anything you want DRM or not, though, like I said, most jailbroken phones run like shit, but that's probably user error.
GSZX1337 wrote:
I had more trouble getting .wav ringtones formatted right for my old N-Gage QD.
You bought an N-Gage?
QD, and yes, it was the best phone I had ever used up until the iPhone 3GS. The call clarity was amazing, the reception was better than anyone else's phone (i'd get service when everyone else had none), the emulation was f'n awesome, it was a great phone.

3. Anyone who thinks a stylus is better on the iPhone hasn't used one enough. Ask any person with an iPhone that has had it more than a month, they will tell you that you are retarded for requesting a stylus.
I'm assuming you think I'm retarded for wanting a stylus.

Holy shit, how DARE I have a preference? I don't want to use my hands to fuck with a touchscreen. I'd rather use a stylus.
no one with an iphone wants a stylus, it wouldn't even make sense as you would lose multi-touch capabilities. If you gave me a stylus, I would never touch it, it wouldn't make sense. Clearly you have not used an iPhone enough to judge it, that's all I can say. You would have to have fingers the size of a grapefruit to need a stylus.
GSZX1337 wrote:
Styluses on phones are nothing but a hassle and something to get lost and slow you down for quick use.
Says you.
says every iphone owner. Go to a mac forum and ask if they want a stylus, you'll get a resounding "NO!"

Besides, if you REALLY want one (say, to use with Brushes as it's a great drawing app), they're dirt cheap, it just has to be one that works with a capacitance based screen.
They've gotten less than when I last looked for an iPhone Stylus.
must've looked real hard the first time

4. Everything on that page is outdated or just plain wrong. It does not take 9 presses to make an ellipses or an ellipses in parenthesis. Also, the landscape keyboard is one of the best compact keyboards I've ever used. You can't fat finger keys like a traditional keyboard because the OS pinpoints the center of your press and only lets you push one key at a time (though games and apps can allow up to 4 presses for in-game/app use).
See this? --->:P
This means I was joking.
then why did you even post it? I don't think you were joking, I think you just don't know shit about the iPhone yet feel confident in saying it's an inadequate game platform.

5. I'll go a step further and address multi-tasking. Everyone goes "ohhhh, no multi-tasking, waaaahhhh" but that's only half true. You can play music and do almost anything (except some apps/games will override it with its own music). You can be surfing the web with Safari and listening to music, get a push notification of an IM via SMS or AIM or whatever, click "reply", go into the app and respond to whoever, then go right back to Safari and it'll still be where you left off on the page. All the lack of multi-tasking means is that apps don't actively run in the background to drain your battery, but most (all of the official ones) will save your exact place so you can come back later. You can't practically use more than one app at a time, so honestly I don't see a difference between the iPhone and, say, the Palm Pre that DOES use real multi-tasking since either only displays one app at a time.
I'll go a step backward and say I didn't mention it, so why bring it up?
because I knew someone would bring it up, so might as well snuff it out right away.

People need to actually use an iPhone to a reasonable extent before just bashing it. 99% of iPhone complaints are from people with wrong information.
You need to stop assuming everyone is 'bashing' something just because they say something about it. Also, I did use an iPhone. Guess what? I didn't like it very much. All I said was:
There are legitimate reasons to not like the iPhone
and I've disproved all of them. 3 seconds on an iPhone is not enough, it takes at least a week to be good enough with it to appreciate how great of a device it is.
GSZX1337 wrote:
Why the hell are you so defensive about the damn iPhone? Also, the iPhone has emulators, too.
it has Nescaline, which was available for less than 24 hours (and I was able to nab before it was pulled

). All other emulators require a jailbreak (except, say, Sonic the Hedgehog or Streets of Rage that are official emulator-in-one apps from Sega). The emulation is good, but the emulation authors did a shit job with the digital controls (talking about the homebrew ones, the official ones are pretty decent). Most bad digital controls are the programmers fault, anyone that's played Minigore knows how good virtual controls can be.

For example Mac vs PC
Iphone vs a Normal Phone.
No, we defend our purchases because we constantly get attacked with shit like "you just bought it to be a trendy hipster" or "way to pay too much for the same hardware as my *insert piece of shit computer that doesn't work worth a damn*" or "iPhone only has super simple casual games, there's nothing good for it" when all of these comments come from people talking straight out of their ass.
All I'm saying is this: everyone I know with an iPhone and everyone I know with a Mac would not go back to a regular phone or a PC. Maybe we're onto something, just saying.
msimplay wrote:
Personally I don't care about the Iphone it's too expensive and I dislike touch screen interfaces for anything other than games it's just too fiddly
have you even used it? Assuming all touch screens are "fiddly" is a bit of an over-generalization.
