I don't get it. Nintendo fans are some of the most hardcore motherfuckers you'll ever find. They'll pounce on the new Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Earthbound (HAHAHA! I kid), etc. like a kitten on a ball of catnip. I always thought of Nintendo as the most hardcore of the three.

Hey, after Smash Bros, I'm sure that if they tried to make the effort to bring it to the states, people would have played the shit out of Mother 3/Earthbound 2. Of course, Itoi said he has no plans for a Mother 4, so moot point anyways

Core' used to be a term that said "I play old school and/or obscure games." Now it's a term that says "I'm better than casual gamers because I play (flavor of the month) instead of Wii Sports."
QFT, said to utter perfection.

I was poking fun at the fact that there won't be another Earthbound, not the fans.

I'm not sure what the Punks have been telling you, but there's Hardcore Punk bands that are mainstream. (The MisFits, Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, etc.)

Did you seriously call Suicidal Tendencies mainstream? The only reason I'm even aware of them is some piece of shit song in Guitar Hero 2.

Suicidal Tendencies were cross-over and then thrash when they were considered mainstream. I never considered Misfits hardcore but I will give you Black Flag even though I don't know any of their songs that are considered mainstream.

@mrpopo they had some popular songs in the 80's they even played one of their songs in the Iron Man movie.

Yeah, but they also have some Hardcore material.

I could be wrong about the Misfits. I don't know much about Hardcore. I saw Black Flag in a few TV shows (ie. King of the Hill) in the 90's.

Bingo.
And Cannibal Corpse is in Ace Ventura. I don't think that makes it mainstream either.

Cannibal Corpse is probably the most mainstream Death Metal band there is.
