My favorite couple ever has got to be James and Mary Sunderland from Silent Hill 2. Most video game couples are just kind of surface-dwelling, but that relationship is something that will haunt you for weeks after you finish the game.

Guybrush Threepwood and Elaine Marley always had a nice witty reparte between each other in the Monkey Island series. Also, they are one of the few videogame duos that are husband and wife (at least in the later titles).

Talking isn't the only way to communicate. Look how they managed to communicate Alyx's mood through her face and body language? We just don't get to see it from Gordon since the point is that you are Gordon.
