not the number of times, but rather the chronological time. Turning the machine on keeps the battery charged (it charges like a cell phone battery, for example) rather than running it down. If you have a Dreamcast I'm sure you've noticed that if you don't play it for a while, it'll need you to reset the date. This is because the onboard rechargeable coin cell battery has lost its charge. If you play your DC every day (or once a week or even once a month if you still had a top shape battery, though I think everyone's is weak nowadays), you won't have to mess with the time/date functions. The arcade works the same way, only instead of losing the date, you lose the ability to decode the ROM chips and you have a 5 foot tall paperweight (or a great MAME cabinet!).the7k wrote:Wow, that's pretty freaking awful.
But, if it was to limit the amount of times you play the system, then wouldn't it actually die faster if you kept playing the machine?

Just wondering - if you had a Japanese CPS-2 board's battery die on you, could you still send it in to Capcom USA, or would you have to send it to Capcom Japan?

Fatal Fury 3 and Real Bout series are the next step if you're tired of Street Fighter.

I wrote an article right after Street Fighter 4 came back because I felt just like you. I wanted to get better at Street Fighter games so I did some research and found some info from professional players.
My article: Think Like a Professional Street Fighter Player
Most of this info is Street Fighter 2 and 4... though it can be applied to almost any fighting game.

I hate tutorials like that, they ruin the purity of the competition. When I play against advanced players, it's the most boring thing ever because they always do the "most correct" move, which usually ends up in identical matches over and over again. Fighters are the most fun after you've been playing long enough to know all of your character's moves, but not long enough to know every glitch and move priority.
