Re: My gaming haven
thanks for the comments
and yes. my TV is... the best thing I have besides my consoles (of material stuff, that is)
unfortunately it's messing up right now; and I'm trying to find the cause
I get "static" when I try to use it now; and I can see the picture in the background, so I know it's there, but it's impossible to make anything out of it
I'm going to try and re-insert all cables, etc. inside of it
any tips for how to clean the various components?
there's one circuit board with lots of cables; I'm thinking of unplugging them and then cleaning them properly, some how
I *need* to get this functional again; atm. I'm stuck with a 28" (Sony Trinitron); which isn't bad; but.... yeah...

Get some spray electrical contact cleaner to use on everything you unplug.Lord_Santa wrote: any tips for how to clean the various components?

Re: My gaming haven
well; I got it working again, by a miracle (and a couple of electro-shocks)
now I just need to re-adjust the picture (there's 30 knobs to tamper with..)
needless to say, I wouldn't mind an owner's manual for this, as I've been working on it since this morning (it's 20:40 over here)
took me about 4-5 hours to get it to work; and thus far I've spent about 3 hours getting the picture tuned
*sigh*
soon... soon... I'll be playing Dreamcast, drinking coffee and Jägermeister and laugh about this whole ordeal; in my new gaming-room (pics coming up =)

Re: My gaming haven
thank you for the tip; I was planning to use some kind of alcohol, but I figured... it would do more damage than good; thank god I'm on good terms with the electrical-shop =)Hobie-wan wrote:Get some spray electrical contact cleaner to use on everything you unplug.Lord_Santa wrote: any tips for how to clean the various components?

Re: My gaming haven
Can you do a couple close up shots and give a little background on the crystal oXbox mod?
I'm working on my very own JPN crystal mod myself.

well; it's a crystal edition; nothing special in that wayh8b1llg8ts wrote:Can you do a couple close up shots and give a little background on the crystal oXbox mod?

my camera is kind of giving me a hard time right now; but I'll try to post some more pics
this'll give you a good picture of how it looks;
http://viriato.net/xbox/images/DSC01884.jpg
unfortunately I did not modify it myself, due to having shaky hands I can barely hold a soldering iron
I bought it from a Swedish site; years ago, with 4 controllers (1 Crystal +3 3rd party)
it has Xenium OS 2.0.1 BIOS (mod) and I (mainly) use XMBC as dashboard
(although I run Avalaunch as well, due to faster upload speed via FTP, when using Qwix)
it came fitted with a 160GB Harddrive, which was 1 of 2 reasons I chose it over the PlayStation 2 at the time;
the other reason being the homebrew scene
(especially the emulators, which there are plenty of)
it looks good to the eye; plays anything I throw at it (Xbox-wise, as in US/JPN/EUR) as well as emulating just about anything up to PSX (including "some" N64; and as for the PSX, it's "some" games)
it has LAN/Internet available and it's hooked up to my router
I (sometimes) run Linux on it; since I have 2 USB connectors attached, thus using mouse/keyboard is not a problem (I got these for free in a store, so I don't reckon they're *that* expensive)
I even managed to install Win98 on it a couple of time (not that there's any use for it, due to it being way too slow, but still)
with 160GB I can easily fit a nice slew of Xbox games, as well as all the ROMS I find necessary; including dashboards and a couple of minor programs (Youtube, etc)
I get almost everything I need for it from;
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/
they have an ftp, which may be difficult to access (due to Microsoft not wanting people to use their XDK without paying), but a quick google search for "xbins.exe" and the second link from the top, should get you going ^^
there you find all the dashboards (all versions) and everything else you could ever need for an Xbox1
as for controllers; I've gotten 2 more Crystal Edition controllers, the last one I payed 6$ for at a "Game" store (not sure if they exist outside Europe)
not much more I can tell you, but if you want more info, just ask; and I'll try to fix some pictures once my camera gets going

Re: My gaming haven
new game-room
so I moved the TV into the kitchen and re-arranged the place
this is basically my setup these days
PC on the far right, 8 consoles in front; extra controllers, etc. in closet behind me.
