Rondo of Blood on VC...worth it?

Post by Flake »

I already have the Dracula X Chronicles on PSP, with Rondo of Blood unlocked. I was planning on spending some time with it soon but I've heard that it's an imperfect port.

That said, is it a good enough port or should I nab Rondo of Blood on the VC now that it's out?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

nab Rondo of Blood for the original classic feeling (or close to it). :)

I hadn't heard that there were issues with the unlockable Rondo of Blood on DXC. I'd say if you aren't bothered by the feel of the PSP and the small screen compared to a TV that it's not worth getting the VC release.

I wouldn't buy anything from the VC because it's non-transferable to other consoles. IF your Wii breaks, bye bye VC titles. You can't transfer the games you own to another console should yours break.

It's a complete deal breaker for me, ever since I found that out I stopped buy VC/Wiiware titles. Think long and hard before you purchase anything from the Wii Shop Channel. Or preferably, don't buy anything from there until Nintendo does something about it.

Wait, it's out in the USA right now? I plan to buy it the second I hear it's out. I have The Dracula X Chronicles, but I don't wish to play it on the small screen. I have the component cables for my PSP, but it doesn't look right.

What's suppose to be "imperfect" about this port?

edit: Actually, I don't care. I'm downloading it right now.

As for what Niode said, it's not a deal breaker for me. I know it would totally suck if my Wii broke, but I'll take the chance. And I know this isn't a good answer, but can't you play VC games on a modified Wii? Be it modchip or softmod... I thought there was a way.

I know you could at one time; I'm not sure if Nintendo's managed to close those avenues with their various firmware updates.

I just watched my friend play through a large portion of it, and I'd say it's well worth it. If you have a CRT, the picture is very good with the 240P scanlines through a HD connection. Much more comfortable than playing on the PSP's tiny screen.

It's 100% worth it. The remake on the PSP is alright, but its lazy/ugly 2.5D graphics are nothing compared to the original. The sprites in Rondo are some of the best in any sprite-based game, the music in the original is infinitely cheesier (read:better) than the remake. Rondo is my favourite Castlevania game, lots of replay value, secrets to find and just the right level of difficulty.

Hmmmm...well it sounds like a probable winner to me. Of course, this is all assuming I have any points left after Cavestory next week.

Don't forget Dracula X on the PSP also includes an unlockable port of the original Rondo.
