Looking for a digital picture frame.

Post by Lokkenjawnz »

So as the title suggests, I'm in the market for a digital picture frame, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding one that fits my needs. Thusly, I figured that the racketboy community can help me out and use the collective mind power here to find one for me!

So the specs I need are:
Under $50 (or at least as close as possible to that)
Battery powered

And preferably a higher resolution screen, though if the two above are met then I can probably deal with a slightly lower resolution. So there it is, anyone here think they can point me in the right direction?
My Want List!

Consoles: Sega Master System, NES Toploader, Genesis/32X, Sega CDX, SNES, 3DO FZ-1, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Sony PS2, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox Halo Edition, Wii, PS3
Handhelds: Atari Lynx, Sega Nomad, Neo Geo Pocket Color, GBC (Atomic Purple, Pokemon Edition), GBA (Pink OG, Silver SP, Spongebob SP+), DS (Phat, iXL), 3DS, PSP (1000, Go)

Bah I guess I should have expected a response like that. Unfortunately the few on that page that satisfy my resolution requirements don't have batteries.

So let me explain my motives a bit better. I've recently begun reading comic books on my computer, and it's really great. I can hold entire series with me so I never get left at a cliff hanger, and by holding my laptop like a book, I can read it in the proper orientation, one page at a time. Unfortunately, it gets a bit annoying having to hold up my laptop for extended periods, and it's not hugely portable in the way that I'd like it to be for comics. Thusly, I want a tablet for reading comic books on, but those are all $1000+, and the iPad, while actually looking a bit better, is much too expensive for my purposes as well. So a battery operated digital picture frame is ideal. All my tablet needs to do is display images in a certain order, such that I can click through from page to page, which is exactly what a digital picture frame does. So if anyone has any experience with battery operated frames, let me know! Or if anyone has a better idea for reading digital comic books on the go, let me know!

I figure this is kind of a shot in the dark, but I don't really know anywhere else to ask this, and I assume that there must be at least a few people here who kind of understand what I'm getting at.

My biggest frustration with the Digital Pic frame we got as a Christmas present is no video input. I think a lot of those frames are like that with just usb and memory slots. A lousy cheap video input, come on! Maybe a feature to look for if you need it like a second screen for Console Link play. Okay, okay a gamers frustration.

That is a good ideal! Why buy that pricey iPad. I guess on top of video input option, just check specs for resolution and prices. Play around with store displays with your memory stick popped in.

Another small scale option. I use my cell to read PDF's and Doc files.

For even faster reads you can convert Word files to HTML and individual PDF pages to JPGS.

A whole book may be painful on the eyes that way though.
