(4.3Gig * 1024Megs/Gig)/(2 Megs/s)= 2201.6s

2201.6s / (60s/min) = 36.7min

But yeah, these unofficial versions seem like more trouble than it's worth.

Yeah when I was transfering Devil Summoner last night I realized I was the one with the bad memory. It's 2.12MB/sec.

Fair enough. Thanks for answering, you saved me the week shipping it to somebody and back only to find it doesn't work. I bought a Sony memory card just for FMCB that should be here in a couple of days.

Looking for a Free McBoot installer please (UK)

Post by OTm_bread »

Hi folks! I've never needed to mod my PS2 before, but recently the Front Mission 5 english translation project was finished (hurrah!). As I'd really like to play this import game, I'm looking for someone who would be kind enough to install Free McBoot on my memory card. I understand that will let me boot an ISO of the patched DVD from a USB stick, or so I hope.

If the memory card doesn't have to be blank I'll send the official Sony one that came with my console. If not I'll buy a new, blank one.

Ideally looking to find someone UK-based, so postage doesn't make the whole thing uneconomical :p

Thanks in advance!

You need about 3~MB (2MB for bare minimum of files, but you're gonna need ESR and UlaunchElf) free space on the memory card for FreeMCboot 1.8. If you send me your card and pay for return postage I'll do it for you.

If you use Open PS2 Loader, you can run games from a USB stick or hard drive. This project is under active-development and seems to be very promising.

Interesting... I'd still need FMCB or SwapMagic to install/try that tho wouldn't I.

Niode: Thanks for the offer! I'm not sure how much free space is on my existing card, I'll check in a min. Might be better just to buy a new one and send it to you. Could you PM me your address details? Thanks again mate!

how about you get the card sent to someone in the us directly THEN they hack it and send it to you? also it would really help if you had/wanted the extra elfs to be loaded onto a usb pendrive :)

I think Niode is offering to install Free McBoot and he's located in the UK like the OP.
