Why would you want to do that? That's one of the best things about the xbox...the ability to play games off the hard drive.

Find a large cheap IDE drive (I've found 250GB, 320GB, 500GB) for around $30-40. Then rip your games to the hard drive. No more fussing with burned media.
Yeah, same question. You gotta be crazy to rather burn them than have them on the HDD!

yeah, but what do you need to do in order to swap the drives? you can't just suddenly swap them, can you? Obviously you need a soft mod first (I have krayzie's ndure installer unleash X), so what from there?

Personally I have a hard-mod so it's easy to swap the hard drive. Doing a google search, here's one guide for a soft mod hard drive swap.

This guide looks even better.

wow, that looks like a whole lot of trouble. Besides, don't you have to reboot your XBOX to play a different game? I had Tony Hawk 2X on mine for a while and that was the part that annoyed me the most. Either way you have to get up to change games. Also, a DVD-R spindle is alot cheaper than a big hard drive. Oh, that and there are probably less than 20 games for XBOX I would even bother playing.

For my PS2, I use DVD-Rs.

Depends on the dashboard but I believe many of them have IGR (In Game Reset) where you press a bunch of buttons/triggers to get back to the dashboard. So there's no need to get up to reboot the xbox.
