I've never heard of this magazine, but the preview scans look quite interesting. Keep up the brilliant work! Any idea when work is going to start on Sega Magazine? I wish I could contribute but I'll have to buy a larger scanner first. An opportunity hasn't presented itself ever since retromags was first conceived

Thank you again.

Pulsar, we appreciate any help anyone can offer, including just words of encouragement and a showing of enthusiasm for the releases we are able to bring to the fans (making new fans for these magazines is even greater).

I will check with meppi, he is the resident Sega man at Out-of-Print Archive about your question about Sega Magazine. I have never heard of just Sega Magazine (I know of Sega Visions and Sega Force and a couple of others like that, did you mean those?).

We are working extremely closely with Mr. Gollner to bring more of his magazines to Out-of-Print Archive. There have been major steps taken to officially release other magazines by other publishers too (believe me, it is going to turn gaming magazine preservation on it's ear when some of these are revealed).

I've been in touch with meppi a few times and he's awesome. I was talking about the official UK Sega Magazine, the predecessor to OSSM. I keep getting surprised how obscure it can be, given that it carried the "official" slogan and was edited by Richard Leadbetter along with the crème de la crème of British gaming journalism like Radion Automatic. I think Rich gave away some of those to OoPA (is that the proper acronym?)

Ah, OK, now I understand. :) Yes, meppi has been working on things A LOT and has been the glue that has kept OoPA (yes the correct acronym) together and going as smoothly as it has.

There are some big things coming to OoPA. I know meppi did receive a donation from Mr. Leadbetter, which was amazing to hear about.

I can't wait for more Sega Saturn stuff either, I had the system years ago (got divorced because I apparently played too much Guardian Heroes on it). Great under rated system and the magazines based on it were even better, you could really see the love for the work in print.

This week we have another Nintendo Magazine System magazine which we can present to you courtesy of Mort.
Inside you will find a diverse selection of reviews.
From which we have chosen the following as online features: Push-Over for the Super Nintendo, Bucky O'Hare on the NES, and Alien 3 along with Lemmings on the classic GameBoy.

Mean

Picking only four articles was incredibly difficult as this first issue starts of with a bang and is packed full of goodness.
The reviews that were selected are the following:
We start of with Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Curse which is the first review in our brand new Sega Master System section.
On the Nintendo side we have reviews for Bionic Commando and Double Dragon II, both of which are for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
And we close of with Truxton for the Mega Drive.

Vintage british gaming journalism is like vintage british comedy, it only gets better with age. Like someone posted on OoPA forums the snapshots alone are indicative of the effort put into the magazines. Sadly I think the majority here don't recognise such effort (mainly because they bought US magazines such as GamePro, and the less ad-infested EGM(?)), but don't let that discourage you, even though retro magazine digitisation is still a young scene it has garnered a lot of interest.

Oh and good show with the April Fools' number!

Thank you Pulsar, we were keeping quiet on the April Fool's joke, we weren't sure how it was going to be received by fans or publisher's/copyright owners (luckily, we have received nothing but positive response from both sides).

That is part of the reason I am a little late on getting the latest update from Out-of-Print up over here. Been busy with A LOT of stuff behind the scenes, we launched a new feature (Back in Time- http://www.outofprintarchive.com/articl ... _1990.html) which our main man, Nreive pulled together (if you haven't read it, it is awesome). We are looking for help with doing a similar article on the US side of things too if anyone is interested in helping out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Onto the update now:

Radiant Silvergun review (Mega Drive)

We continue with another fine Richard Leadbetter creation.
This 6th edition of MAXIMUM is the second last issue of an excellent magazine that died much too young.

We have selected four very different articles this time:
First up is a preview of Dungeons & Dragons - Shadows Over Mystara, released in the Arcade and later on the Sega Saturn.
The second one is a feature for the Japanese Playstation Expo of 1996.
And to finish of we have 2 very special interviews: one with Team Andromeda on Panzer Dragoon Zwei and the second one talks with id Software about Quake, which also happens to head of our brand new PC & Mac interview section.

Thanks for the great comments, they are appreciated.

I'd just like to thank the team for their efforts and say that I'm looking forward for Amiga Format. I still have some issues back at my parent's home I'm sure, but it will be nice to have the issues I missed and the "classic" issues that I remember reading accessible through the web.
