So... modding the Virtual Boy

Post by REPO Man »

A) Can you swap out the red LEDs with different ones?

B) Can you mod it so it can run on a rechargeable battery?

C) Can you alter it in any way to make portability more feasible?

D) I heard that the adhesive that keeps the PCB in place is inferior and can cause it to become loose. Can you use different adhesive to hold it in place?

E) Any other mods possible?

Not that common a machine, a collectors item. Still yours to make as you want.

A) I think the red LEDs would be too pricey to convert.

B) Simple matter of matching voltage/amp requirements and the right connectors.

C) Couple members here have done extreme mods to portablize (made word up!) Game Consoles.
.... Maybe PM hailrazer or bacteria both have posts on this page: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 25&t=19859

D) I remember reading about that a while back too. Try this link for a fix http://www.projectvb.com/displayfix.html

E) Try here: http://www.vr32.de/modules/workshop/

if you are gonna do a mod for a rechargeable battery, might be a good idea to get an extra controller to mess with
