Wii is in high demand where I work.

There's a contest at my job where they've been giving out tickets to everyone. You put the tickets in one of a variety of jars each representing a different prize for whoever's name gets pulled from the jar. Some of the prizes including a digital camera, camcorder, DVD player, gift cards, etc.

Here's the cool thing, one of the jars is for winning a Wii. There have been so many people putting tickets in for the Wii, that they had to removed the Jar and get this pretty big plastic container to hold all the tickets. So on the table now, you see a bunch of jars with tickets in them, and this huge plastic container almost filled to the brim with tickets for the Wii.

I think my chances of winning it are pretty slim now. Man, EVERYBODY wants this thing, and where I work there is a wide variety of people from different age groups and walks of life. I see both women and men wanting this thing

Has Nintendo taken the "mainstream appeal" throne away from Sony?

Part of it is probably the fact that you can't actually want into any store and buy one.
But yes, middle-aged women at my work talk about it all the time....

They do last up to two days on the shelf now around my area so demand has abated a tiny bit.

If anyone is hard up for one they should be available at any Toys R Us Sunday the 16th if you arrive around 9 am (hour before opening).
Let my legs shake me to sleep, and don't wake me when I sweat on my sheets.

Well, I've still never seen one in the wild...

When ever I ask if my local Eb or GameStop has them they always say that they have 2 but that they are going fast... Find it kind of odd. I dont have the money to buy one yet but all I hear is that they are hard to find but the 4 times I call they have 2 and say that I should come down that day because they will be sold out. Maybe I am just lucky.

Me neither. I saw a used one once at a local game store, but I'm not counting that. I always browse the Wii aisle at any story I go to and I'm going to mark how long it takes to see one on a shelf.

Nine and a half months and counting ...

I heard a rumor that they're putting up two Wiis as prizes now where I work. I didn't plan on buying a Wii anytime soon as I'm somewhat disappointed by my first next gen purchase(the 360), but I woudn't mind winning one of these for free.

I honestly never thought the Wii would become such a hit with the average joe gamer. I thought the new control style would be considered too weird by the mainstream audience, and would only appeal to the kinds of gamers who love stuff like Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. Boy was I wrong.
