Saturn RGB cable
i'm thinking of picking up a saturn rgb cable, but i don't know a lot about video connections. it's a 21-pin cable, so what tv's or computer monitors can this be used on?

i believe the rgb cable is a scart cable (i used to think rgb = vga) but i'm not sure i've ever seen that kind of input on a north american tv (though they obviously have them in japan since the official saturn rgb cable is made here). do the more recent smaller lcd tv's have this type of connection? or can anyone recommend a specific model (amazon links would be great!)

Gamesx.com has a good info to get RGB out of a SS. It's more of a PC RGB, not a SCART connection. When I mod'd my Sat, I mounted a simple 9 pin (serial) to the back, but still use the A/V for sound. It does look real good. Getting the monitor was bit hard but I managed to get two 13" ones that supported it.

so what is the usual connection you would use for a console or dvd player?
Component or S-Video

If that is the composite connectors I'm used to, it would be 3 jacks - usually color coded as yellow for video and red and white for audio (2 for stereo). If those are the ones, I know for a fact that it's relatively easy to find adaptors from the 3 jacks to 21 pin SCART connections (that is how I used to connect my Amiga CD32 AND my Hi 8 Camera to the TV)

i think he means component as in YPbPr, rgb is very similar technology wise and is just serverd in a different cable with the audio included. I think quality difference is minimal, however i think that pal tvs are better at handling any other signal than component due to their improved specs/picture stability. If your ntsc then it seems advised to stick to pure component really.
my reference reading is here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/archive/ ... 43445.html
btw any pal vs ntsc comments are always welcome, not had much time using ntsc, but was not to impressed tbh, think my motel had the worst signal tho, but news clips from the us never look great for some reason. I think they must translate to our system badly, or nobody takes care of it as its only news (or similar).
