Oh yeah - I suppose I should ask the real important questions. The ones that really make or break the purchase of these Fatal Fury collections for many people. Something far more important that blood. Even more important than accurate emulation and controls.

Do Mai Shiranui and Blue Mary still jiggle? It ain't Fatal Fury without the Gainax bounce.

The "edits" appear to be more selective than simple region mimics.

Samurai Shodown Anthology is basically intact, blood and all. However, fatalities like the "cut in half" and "arterial spray" only happen in VS mode.

Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 2 is missing all blood, but it doesn't bother me much as it doesn't detract from the artistic appeal of the game as it would in a game series like Samurai Shodown. The Blue Mary topless sequence is missing from Real Bout Fatal Fury, but that has been the case since the game left Japanese shores.

King of Fighters 98: UM is pretty watered down. There are a few moves sporting massive amounts of blood but it looks like laziness or forgetfulness were the key reasons they were left in the game.

Metal gear fans know what I am talking about.
*edit*
Mame is bad, there is bad lag that makes some games unplayable. not to mention the emulation on some versions of MAME is terrible, many games look like shit on even the best MAME machines.

what?

I've never had laggy inputs on mame. Same thing with the rest of your post, unless you're trying to play 3D games or something I've never had problems like that.

Indeed. I only get compilations only if the titles are extremely rare or have been enhanced.

wip3outguy7 - "Samurai Shodown Anthology is basically intact, blood and all. However, fatalities like the "cut in half" and "arterial spray" only happen in VS mode."

On my US copy of Samurai Shodown, cut in half and arterial spray fatalities both do happen on regular arcade mode. I have not even been able to play it in verses yet. (no one will play SamSho with me)

On "just use Mame" - If I use Mame (or Winkawaks/NeoRagex), the video is S-vid out of my laptop to my big flat CRT. I do play a ton of games (everything on my laptop) this way, and it looks really great, but if I play them on PS2, the video is Component to my big flat CRT... so I prefer that option.
Also, as someone already stated, not every mame game works out perfectly on everyone's system, so its nice to have the option of the compilations.
