*Update*
Yesterday I told the Super of my building about my package not showing up. He said "check the mailbox next to mine, it has a broken lock and sometimes the mailman will put stuff in there if he doesn't know where to put the package or slip or whatever" I replied "that would be dumb considering my mailbox is clearly marked with my and my girlfriend's last name" But I checked it anyway, and it was empty. Cut to today's mail delivery, there are a few letters, regular mail. I check the box with the broken lock, what do you know, a slip to pick my package up at the post office! Dated yesterday?! WTF USPS!

I tend to hate customs more... but that's a whole 'nother story all together. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes.

I personally have decided that Fed Ex Ground is the worst. Ask sevin0sevin, as it's still too soon for me.

Yup. Ask enough people, you'll hear horror stories about all shipping from all of the carriers. A book my grandmother sent me from England arrived in a USPS tyvek bag with a piece of original package and a letter saying the package fell apart in shipping and they were terribly sorry. My grandmother always packed things carefully in boxed and then covered with brown paper. I had airborn express leave a replacement hard drive outside my apartment office 15 feet from the street in plain view. They left it there the Friday after Thanksgiving at 10 AM while the office was obviously closed. When I was setting up the RMA for the dead drive I had to indicate in 2 or 3 separate places that the drive would not be left and that I absolutely must sign for the package. I wasn't even allowed to have anyone else sign for it. Here's a wonderful example of a UPS driver being an asshole.hailrazer wrote:I have a friend who works in the UPS hub in Columbus Georgia. I have sat there and watched them work. They literally throw everything off the big rig truck down a sliding ramp and then throw them in bins. I have watched things fall off the ramp , land on the ramp from 10 feet away, and been thrown in the bins from 20 feet away.
Seriously guys it's like that with ALL the major shipping companies. None are really better than any other, just some areas might have better service than others or more conscientious employees.
If you're sending a package to someone else and its important or valuable, pack it for the apocalypse just in case.
