A while ago I bought a JP Mega CD for my Mega Drive, and it had tray problems, and a really glitched sound chip (or something). I told myself I would never buy AS IS stuff... but I did again, this time a US Sega CD, and it works ^^. Well kinda, has a few problems (maybe). The guy knew it worked last time he turned it on years ago, but didn't have cables to test it.
-When there is no cd inside, it makes a weird grind sound (for a half a second) as it spins up.
-The owner left his copy of Sherlock Holmes. The Sonic, Sega Presents boot comes on, but then freezes. The CD is clean. However my copy of Dune runs fine. Dirty lens or something?
-It makes a weird sweeping sound as it spins. Is it just normal, old CD hardware? It's a bit loud so want to check.
Other then that it works fine. Played music cds I put in and also the one Sega CD game I bought for testing lol. Thing is really clean, guess the owner never used it.
Is there anything I can change or modify to quite down the reading, and a guide to clean the lens?
Got another sega cd... this time it works
Re: Got another sega cd... this time it works
Got a video of it reading. Funny thing is Sherlock decided to work, and I couldn't reproduce the grinding noise lol.
