Why can dreamcasts read burned cd-r????

I didn't feel like wading through the thread (as usual), so if I repeat something, oh well:

I didn't feel like reading the whole thread, but...

I'm sensing a trend here.

I'm not trying to be a jackass, but you're coming across as pretty rude. Its like you see some conversation going on, then walk over and push people out of the way and talk louder than everyone else at the original poster. As I said in the other thread, if you can't be bothered to 'listen' to other people, pretty soon nobody is going to listen to you.

Pardon my thread derailment. Though it was a pretty big mess to begin with.

It's more like "I know the exact answer, I don't feel like reading 3 pages of arguments and speculation, I'm going to say the correct answer, take it or leave it"

There's no discussion to be had, MIL-CD compatibility is why a Dreamcast can read CD-Rs [/thread]

It's not like a post is costing you money, if you don't want to read my concise posts full of correct information because I didn't see if anyone else touched on it elsewhere, don't. My god, this place is just a constant pissing contest of people pissed off that someone out there might know more than them (OH NOES!).

so I'm adding fuel to the fire for defending my logic of why I don't sift through 3 pages filled mostly with people that have no clue? I'm not the one looking for info, I know the answer, from the few posts I read it didn't seem like anyone was even getting close, so I just said "f-it" and posted the answer. I mean, hell, half of the responses insist it's because they enable music CD playback or insisting that people burn the games with GD-Rs (which did/do exist for Sega's use, but were never sold commercially), neither of which are even close.

Again, why do you feel the need to get butthurt because I provide right answers without reading the thread? he asked a question, I answered it. Do you read every comment on a youtube video before posting your own? Alot of people here like to post when they have no clue what they're talking about, I don't know why I have to follow a tangent discussion just to address the OP. I gotta say, this forum is pretty ridiculous with its norms, I've never seen a forum where you couldn't just correctly and concisely answer the question straight up without getting shit for it. I was hoping this forum would be a good place to discuss a variety of systems and would be more open to discussion of "backup" playing methods due to the great articles, but much of this forum is just people trying to be king of the retro information mountain.

they said it was because they enabled audio CD playback or used GD-Rs (well, they said CDs with similar format, which would be correctly referred to as a GD-R), that's just plain wrong! I'm supposed to pat people on the back for saying blatantly wrong crap and misleading people? People need to be called an idiot if they're going to be one, you don't deserve praise if you go around misinforming people because you were too lazy to learn the correct answer. I've had tons of people tell me incorrect stuff when I was growing up (happened alot before the internet), so I do the best I can to keep that from happening. I've had alot of people spend their time educating me on all of this stuff and I'm trying to pay it forward and everyone just seems like they don't want to hear it because I'm not buddy buddy with them. W.T.F.
