Bah, that ain't where its at. I'm talking a full-blown game that'll bring all the Pokemon whores back to Nintendo before they know it. You really think this fan game is where it's at?

This is something I've always dreamed about. That would be the coolest game anyone has ever played. A full open world with all of the Pokemon? Sold in a heartbeat. I'm sure with Nintendo and Game Freak doing what they do best, plus a really good art and animation direction, this could be a really big thing.

Here's to dreaming though. Image

[ninja edit]Oh man, what if it had different career paths? Like photography, similar to Pokemon Snap. Or a complete breeder section. Trainer, nurse, Team Rocket? [/edit]

Kind of like how in Star Wars Galaxies you can choose different occupations? That'd kick ass!

I've never been a huge Pokemon fan (I way prefer exploration and story to collecting and leveling, not that I don't understand the charms of them), but this is a thought I had way back when Phantasy Star Online was relatively new - it's a concept that would work absolutely flawlessly. As long as they had a rigorous process to censor foul language (not something I regularly condone, but in the case of a Pokemon game, it would be necessary) and to prevent cheating, it's pretty much what Pokemon was meant to be all along.

Phantasy Star Zero is an MMO on the DS that works, so a DS Pokemon MMO would work beautifully. It'd have to be 3D, and you'd have to level up the trainer for powers and skills just like the Pokemon. Like, trainers could get classes they can interchange through once a day, each class gets bonuses with certain types of pokemon (Hiker gets bonus with rock/ground, Pokemon Breeder gets bonuses with unevolved pokemon, etc.)

Although if they haven't done it already, a future one is unlikely.

I was never really a big Pokemon fan, but my girlfriend would freak out if Nintendo did something like this and shut down from being functional in society and do nothing but play this game. It would be a very sad day for me :(

I wouldn't want Nintendo to stray away from the core mechanic of the game. Just, they have double battles and tag-team trainer battles... but there's never a solid opportunity to use them, that is, with other people.

Gameplaywise, I'd want an MMO to be another reboot of the series just as RS was when they were released, so everybody is just a newbie. But that's jsut me, more discussion like this. . .
