I think new games for old consoles need to be released more often. I'm awaiting battle kid to be in stock again. I wonder how many they sold?
I'm not sure if you were joking around, but in another thread you showed some of a game you were making? If you have the skills, why dont you devote the weekends or this summer to creating one, and sending a very convincing letter to nintendo or sega to put it on a cartridge for you.

This.

Just release all of the arcade games that were not released for home consoles.

The console would be named SEGA Phoenix. It would have around the same amount of power as the PS3, only it would cost much less because the SEGA Phoenix is planned for release as an 8th generation console.

By this time new programming techniques and an understanding of the hardware would have made it easier for developers to get maximum performance out the hardware. The console would have backing from all major third-party developers with dev kits being sent to them free of charge at least one year before the systems release, new dev kits with appropriate adjustments would be sent again to all developers closer to release.

It would have support for up to six players on one console. (Modern TV's are big enough for this, probably more). It would use a standard control set-up similar to the XBOX 360 control, only better in some way I can't think up right now...

Games would come on Blu-Ray disks. It would have support for Blue-Ray movies.

SSD Drive for storage.

The console would ship with better exclusive launch titles then any system to date, something along the lines of:

Sonic 2.5D (A new Sonic game, with classical game-play combined with modern graphics and a simple story line)

Virtua Fighter 6

Shenmue 1 Re-Make (The original Shenmue, remade with modern graphics, control mechanics, etc.)

Jet Grind Radio 3

Power Stone 3 (Third party exclusive)

Space Harrier

Resident Evil 6 (Third party exclusive)

Crazy Taxi 3

Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Third party exclusive)

Initial D

Yakuza 4

House of the Dead 5

<Insert FPS game here>

<Insert RPG game here>

<Insert Racing game here>

<Insert Shmup here>

<Insert Sports game here> (Virtua Tennis..)

Plus a few other key third party titles, with exclusive rights if possible. (And since this is fantasy land it is possible!)

With launch titles like this I would then have resources focused on a a very strong marketing campaign. 11/11/2011, Lots off Advertisements, Poke fun at other consoles (Wii is a potential gold mine), all that stuff.

After this I would make sure a steady balance of strong IP's are ready for release in the following months. SEGA All-Star Racing, SEGA All-Star Tennis, SEGA Smash Bros, Paper Sonic, basically monopolize Sonic and other exclusive Sega characters in the same way Nintendo have with characters like Mario, Samus, etc.

And of course, free online services from launch day. A Sega Classics download store, Online gaming, etc.

Yep...
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

It would be called Dreamcast 2 and it would be backwards compatible with the first Dreamcast, a CD/GD-rom drive will available as a add-on. A large flash drive-like device would be used for the games so artwork could be displayed, VMUs will return and be almost exactly the same as the first Dreamcast.

The system will be black like the Sega Sports Dreamcast instead of white. It will be bigger than the DC, probably the same size as the Saturn.

The Dreamcast 2 would just leave off were the first one left off. It will use the Sega Naomi system (I believe the same as the first DC) and have lots of shmups, beat em ups, fighters, platformmers, rpgs, etc. The games will have a hardcore cult following like the Neo Geo.

The DC2 will have online gaming and have every game playable online.

The controls will be revision of the Dreamcast controller, improved shaped but everything will be pretty much the same.

The first game on it will be a Sonic The Hedgehog remake pack, it includes 1, 2, 3 and Sonic & Knuckles all with 2.5 D graphics.

I would probably pass out if a Sega system like this every came out!
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

I can make pretty good graphics, and I know how to use multimedia fusion pretty decently. But I know nothing about programming. And even less about making it work for a genesis emulator, and less still about putting it on a cartridge.

Thats what the very convincing letter is for. You just make it, send it on a cd, and have them redo it on a cartridge. It won't happen. But it would be cool if it did.

My interpretation of the Current Gen machines.
Please no screaming at your Monitor, spit is hard to wipe off an LCD.

Wii novelty of sensor light bar wearing off. Older controllers more interactive for gaming.

PS3 and 360 customer loyalty losing ground because of YLOD and RROD.

Sega if it had the financial strength could but won't make a come back. The market is ready for the "Dreamcast 2", "Sega Phoenix" or my stolen suggestion simply the "Naomi".

Speaking of "Naomi", have the latest Naomi 2 Arcade spec chips incorporated. Sell on that, to show reliability of Arcade punishment. Tease Sony and Microsoft on reliability. Have full fledged FREE Sega Net, profit on the downloads of huge Sega library.

This Naomi, this one! Cram it in a console, all of it! (Okay let me dream)

Customers getting fed up with something always breaking down, look at Toyota sales 6 months from now.

GD-Rom backwards compatibility would be nice bonus but not a strong sell point. The main focus {as in the original Dreamcast} is hit the market with a ton of cool games. Remember all the launch titles with the DC? Sega knew they would die once the PS2 would hit the market a year later. The U.S. release blew customers away with all the variety of games, good games at launch. Dreamcast had a short beautiful run until the PS2 stormed in.

Not to pour down cold water on any SEGA fans,

But the latest Pach-Attack episode does explain the current state of SEGA, granted that some of you may not like Micheal Pachter, as he is a business analyst/strategist. And from what he says, someone would need to toss in as least 1 BILLION dollars for the process, and that doesn't guarantee any profits (anyone here can find a fellow willing to do so).

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/episo ... tack/63123

Not being a fanboy of anything, what you guys are hoping is nothing more than asking Atari to make a comeback into the console business; heck I still meet old'timers say that Atari is the bomb, not Sony nor MS. And if someone is to enter the console wars, it should be Apple or Samsung (the Koreans are marching in, and so will the Chinese, not just in cars but electronics as well!).

So, my take, spend the money to continue releasing high quality games that everyone will play, and making sure that it reaches every available consoles (not to follow in Tecmo's exclusive deal with MS), and for side business, compete with Hori in release gaming accessories (controllers, fighting sticks...), make sure that SEGA stands for high-quality gaming, not a faded memory.
