Any Tips or Tricks for NGPC Owners?

Post by racketboy »

Those of you that own or have owned a Neo-Geo Pocket or NGPC, are there any tips or tricks that you might offer to new or prospective owners of the handheld?

I'm trying to build up a NGPC 101 post and would like it to be a nice resource.

Thanks!

What sort of stuff would you write in a GBA 101 post? Not much, I reckon - handhelds are simple systems, no TV out problems or controllers... You may want to advise everyone to get rechargeable AAs, perhaps discuss the relatively long battery life of the system, mention the battery that keeps the memory of the system (the same ones used in DC VMUs, as you probably know), and perhaps go on a bit about the calendar etc functions of it when you don't have a cart inserted.

Although, if you know a good way of making cart to NGPC contacts work better let me know (my Metal Slug 2nd Mission and the 2d fighter I have and never play don't always boot on the first insertion - but considering how cheap I got the stuff, I can hardly complain).

You might want to mention that you can still get new ones bundled with 18 games for about $80 shipped on ebay.
