You make a valid point about the Monome, but yours is far more elegant. Now that I think about it I might be able to rig up something up with lightup arcade buttons.

My current project
Re: My current project
Holy crap that thing is huge. Interesting that he's used arcade buttons though. As you can see from the pictures the cube is about the size of 5 or 6 CDs stacked on top of each other. It's also very light. Plus the transparent plexiglass lets the light refract all around. It looks pretty, plus the 12000mcd LEDs I bought from LED1.de are obscenely bright. It can light a room up quite easily if all the LEDS are switched on. If I can find room for it I'll wire up a variable resistor to alter the current going to the LEDs so as not to burn people's retinas when they use it for extended periods of time

Re: My current project
Yeah, you'd be surprised just how bright LEDs can get. The summer after my Junior year in college I worked on a project for the plant sciences department where I wrote the code for an imager they had built. It measured the flourescence of plants and also had a the ability to bath a plant in bright light first to desensitize it and lower the flourescent effect. Inside of a building it was really really bright, so we had a black sheet throw over it to make it bareable to be around.Niode wrote:Holy crap that thing is huge. Of course, compared to the amount of light that's outside it was miniscule. The human eye detects contrasts, not absolutes.

Don't laugh. In my quest to find an original Simon at local Goodwills came up with nothing. Did find key ring version at Toy R Us but it stated limited play. Okay now have lost my mind and playing Simon on my Samsung Cell. Not quite the same effect as original and definitely not as impressive as Niode's Light Cubes. I think it will hold over on my limited musical talent. Okay, I can hear someone snickering!

Wow nice. My dream project would be something similar to this but using those screenkeys, it will probably cost me a couple of grand for prototyping though. Plus they don't have any prices... I might ask for samples and see what I can do with them.DNT 2.5 wrote:Someone wished for some parts, lets see what I can do.
