2 different Nintendo brand Super Nintendo Controllers

Post by robb_0909 »

I was looking through some stuff I had aquired and relized I had 2 different super nintendo controllers. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference. One is the typical super nintendo controller SNS-005. It has "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" printed at the top center and has "Select" and "Start" printed on the controller. I know this one was made in Japan.

The other controller is SNS-102 and has just "Nintendo" indented in at the top center and start and select are also indented in the contoller. I know this one was made in China.

They both have the same button configuration, color, and the shape of the controller is the same.

Did these come with different models of the SNES or was one like an after market contoller? Thanks for any help.

The 102 came with the SNES mini, or could be bought separately.

Well Come!

Might also be worth pointing out... I noticed that two of my SNES pads had different feeling wires, but when I checked the model numbers they were the same!

Anyone notice N64 cables stay un-tangled compared to other consoles.

Something about when I unwind them the wire insulation more flexible, doesn't stay in coils. I plug them into the consoles first, then wind around controller loosly to avoid tangles. The other consoles wires hold "memory" of that wrapping around controllers.

I know exactly what you mean and it's so damn annoying! The Saturn controller is the worst for that. I don't even wrap the wire around the controller anymore for Saturn, it takes too damn long to become straight again (a few weeks).

I've noticed that. The N64 controller was great. But the Xbox duke controller was HORRIBLE for getting tangled, it took months for it to forget having the cord wrapped for a few days (really, only a few days).
