GBA-TV
GBA-TV
I've seen a couple of these GBA-TV devices online and was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with them. The reviews I've spotted online have been relatively favorable. It essentially allows you to play your GBA on TV, without a Game Cube or GameBoy Player. I have a Game Cube with the Player, but was thinking this might be handy to take over to someone's house, etc. Let me know if you've tried this out and what your thoughts are. Thanks!

It's not going to work now since it uses and antenna.

Did you read past the thread title? He's not talking about a TV receiver accessory.GSZX1337 wrote:It's not going to work now since it uses and antenna.

Re: GBA-TV
Ha! My dyslexia does that to me too, no worries.
I don't want to watch TV on my GBA, I want to watch my GBA on my TV.
And yeah, CRTGamer, that's a picture of exactly what I'm talking about. That box is pretty funny there with "big screen" and "fantasy" prominently on the front of the box. What marketing genius thought that would tempt some kids into a purchase?
Has anyone actually installed and used one of these?

Re: GBA-TV
Sorry was away for a while.
Have not tried it myself, looks like it won't fit the SP though. Definitely of interest. There was a link to that link where IGN reviewed it though. GBA Player was the main reason why I bought that Cube. Maybe you can talk your friend into getting his own Cube Player setup both cheap at Gamestop. GBA adapter in the pic not really that portable, seems almost as easy and cheaper just taking a spare Cube and GB Player.

Re: GBA-TV
I have one of those, the box was different but everything else is the same. It's not great, but considering that you don't need a gamecube or anything it's pretty nice. The biggest problem I have with it is that it doesn't display full screen on the tv. You can choose between the native gba resolution (I think), and a larger, but not full screen picture. Also the colors are just a little off, it's nothing major though. It's kinda awkward playing with the extra part, and all the wires attached, but it's still usable. I've been thinking about making a consolized gba with it for awhile now, but Just haven't worked up the motivation. If you want I can dig it out and get some pictures later.
Re: GBA-TV
Why not get a Gamecube and a GB player? Gamecubes don't cost much these days and the player isn't much more. Plus you can use a wavebird with it and have it full screen.

Re: GBA-TV
I had one of these. As t0yrobo mentioned it has it's drawbacks.
Also if you are not handy it is a bit of a pain to install. Disassemble the GBA unhook ribbon wires, install hardware, etc etc.
A GC with a Gameboy Player is probably better and easier.
