I always thought "nub" was used as a way to mock people who use the word "n00b"."nub" is a dumbass misspelling of "n00b".GSZX1337 wrote:So then where does nub fit in?Dylan wrote: Mandatory explanation:

Anyhow as for overused terminology, here's one. How about "overrated" or "underrated"?
Re: Overused Video Game Terminology
Anybody mentioned "Real-Time"? Real-Time battles, Real-Time Strategy, Cut-scenes rendered in real-time, etc etc. Seems like a gimmicky phrase for "It's happening RIGHT NOW".
Re: Overused Video Game Terminology
it is stupid that "real time" is being used so damn much. "You can manage your inventory in REAL TIME!" Wow, I thought that'd have to use up turns to manage my inventory.the7k wrote:Anybody mentioned "Real-Time"? Real-Time would include Bathroom-Time. Something cant be real time if you have to pause the game to pee.the7k wrote:Anybody mentioned "Real-Time"? Real-Time battles, Real-Time Strategy, Cut-scenes rendered in real-time, etc etc. Seems like a gimmicky phrase for "It's happening RIGHT NOW".

On that note, the bus game on the Penn and Teller disc is the only real time game ever.SpaceBooger wrote:Real-Time would include Bathroom-Time. Something cant be real time if you have to pause the game to pee.

Re: Overused Video Game Terminology
I don't really have a problem with this, except that it's used sloppily. Real-time is a technical term used in computing and, in particular, embedded systems, which video game consoles and hand-helds are. So it's not really surprising that the term as come into more common usage.the7k wrote:Anybody mentioned "Real-Time"? It's not video game terminology, and you don't see it as much anymore, but one term that always bugged the heck out of me is "digital quality". "Digital" is not a grade of quality any more than "analog" is. You can have digital signals of lots of different quality levels, just as you can with analog.
