.RAR file question

Post by wclem »

Anyone have any suggestions for .RAR files besides WinRar? I would like to get a free non-shareware program if possible. Thanks.

I second this, even though I use WinRar personally I still find 7zip to be an excellent program.

7z all the way for me. Don't have to mess around with "evaluation" versions, it's just free and it supports many formats.

iirc one type of rar won't open with anything but winrar

it was r## or 001 files. not the hjsplit ones tho.

I dunno I download WinRar for free. It was basically the full version for 30 days, but then you have to buy it. Luckily it still works but a pop up thing pops up say BUY IT but you can close it and still use it.

Fuck 7z, it doesn't work with everything. I use 7z for 7z files and winrar for everything else. It has a nag window that shows up every now and then but it's by no means unusable.
