Fun, short games on PS2

Black is fairly short and fun.

Alien Hominid is fun too, though I'm not sure about the length.

Rez is brilliant fun, but expect to pay $35+ for a copy on eBay.

Try out the Red Star if you look old school shooters. It's the closest to Cannon Spike on PS2.

The Sega Ages games (Panzer Dragoon, Dynamite Deka, Virtual-On, Fantasy Zone etc) but they're all on import, as well as Nights Into Dreams. Also look out for Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Gems, as well as Sega Genesis Collection, and many other compilations that offer small games than be completed in a matter of hours.

You can try one of the myriad of music/rhythm games on the PS2 (Space Channel 5, Gitaroo Man, Mad Maestro, Amplitude, Beatmania IIDX 12th Style Happy Sky, SingStar, DDRMAX), but their difficulty varies greatly.

Metal Slug Anthology definitely fits the bill, as do many of the various compilations that were released for the console.

This. As many people have said, Run n' Guns, SHMUPs, and many arcade games are just what the doctor ordered. I can't recommend Metal Slug Anthology enough, and the PS2 version is better than the PSP version, not only because of less slowdown, but because sometimes the Ad-Hoc multiplayer gets laughably out of sync.

I can't believe no one's recommended SNK arcade collection volume 1. I own it and it's got plenty of pick up and play fun on it. Isn't Capcom Classics Collection good for that as well?

How long is Shadow of the Colossus? I hate long games too, so even if it's over 5 hours, you'll probably still enjoy it.

Gregory Horror Show is a short but fun game if you want something more murder mystery than shooty shooty bang bang.

Great game have callus on my "R1" finger, each level is basically one on one "Boss" mode. You can always treat the levels as separate games.

I'm actually on like the last or second last stage of black, been progressing slowly. And the game is definitely short haha. Great game blowing EVERYTHING up though.

Need to try Alien Hominid for sure.

I've tried some anthologies (Capcom one) and that one is great. Didn't know SNK had one too.

God Hand is short?!? Damn that was on my list of "to get". Now it's very high on the list.

Shadow of Colossus is also on the list of "to get" because of the reviews I've seen. But didn't know it was considered short or at least relatively short. Definitely need that now.

Gregory Horror Show looks weird...like a game I would like lol. Need to check it out.

Katamari is weird. I first played the iphone one and loved it (it was like 2 hours long) and then I tried the first katamari on ps2 and thought the control was weird.... Now it lies hidden somewhere in my house...waiting for me to give it another try... lol
