Well it's not on mine  The novelty factor was high but wore off pretty quickly for me.. I find it hard to come up with more BGMs/songs because frankly most game endings just aren't as effective/memorable as those offered by movies.

Mozgus wrote:What is it about that piece of music which plays during the final credits of a game? If carefully chosen, it can severely help solidify the ending, and seal the story permanently in your mind. It can even make a mediocre game seem fantastic and fulfilling once you beat it (Dragoon). This is something that became more important, as technology improved and we were given streamed audio in our games.

Here are my Top 5:

5. Legend of Dragoon - If You Still Believe
4. Max Payne 2 - Late Goodbye
3. Prince of Persia - Time Only Knows
2. Tenchu - Ending Theme (Faraway)
1. Metal Gear Solid - The Best Is Yet To Come

Download all 5 here, in a convenient zip file. The Prince of Persia song is in MPC format. Here's the Winamp plugin for it. Unfortunately, it is also the shorted version from the official OST :(

Runner ups:

Xenogears - Small Two of Pieces ~Broken Shards~
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines - {Lacuna Coil - Swamped}
Beyond Good & Evil - Home Theme

So you can probably see that my top 5 are all tracks with a balanced, high degree of composition & production value, with lyrical aspects. I don't think it matters if they opted to use licensed music. All that matters is that the song fits with the mood that you are experiencing, after the ending.

What are your top 5?
Love Metal Gear Soundtrack for PS1. Right now also hooked on closing song for ICO. Might be biased, just played through NTSC and PAL versions back to back. Really great ending almost a mini video in itself.

Mega Man X -
This remains one of my all-time favorite videogame tracks, regardless of where in the game it is.

Mario Kart 64 -
Awesome music, didn't really expect something that felt so nostalgic when the game was new. It just had a special feeling to it.

Mega Man X3 -
Another great, the X games definitely knew how to end the game in style.

Breath of Fire 3 -
This blew me away at the time for some reason. I guess I hadn't really heard the million other high-pitched Japanese songs out there yet, but this one was my first.

Phantasy Star Online -
Not much to say about this one, I loved PSO and its music.

I'm probably forgetting some, but I guess if it's forgotten it can't really be in my top 5 anyway.

I just finished Tales of the Abyss, and I have to say, the Grand Fonic Hymn is beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzlYsDpYvfY
