What was the last movie you've seen?

Watched Zombieland, boy was that a fun movie. I loved the list of rules. Cardio and doubletap are my faves LOL. Columbus is now one of my fave movie characters. There was a scene in the movie involving a certain well known actor that I thought was silly though

Also saw Inglourious Bastards, which was good. A bit more mature than previous Quentin fare, though still unmistakeably a Tarantino flick. I actually was a bit disappointed when it ended, left me wanting to spend a little more time in this crazy, Tarantino flavored WWII world. Was quite interesting watching a movie that moved between different languages constantly. Quentin's so well known for his dialogue and it's like it kept taking on new flavors with all the language changes. Brad Pitt was hilarious in this movie

I really want to see Zombieland.

Tarantino gets a little hackneyed for me sometimes. I feel like he's just doing it for the sake of it now, riding his own wave. That said, Pulp Fiction was amazing.

Inglorious Basterds comes right after Jackie Brown as my #2 favourite Tarantino movie. If you like multi-lingual war movies I highly recommend



In my humble opinion I found this movie to be slightly better than Paths of Glory. And it has Daniel Brühl and the sexy Diane Kruger in it. Tarantino "drafted" them both probably after watching Joyeux Noël.

Edit - The DVD on Amazon is either in French or English, but I'm sure I watched a multi-lingual version somewhere. Anyway the movie is good either way!

I saw "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" last week. It was not good by any means, but I'll confess that it got a lot more laughs out of me than "Observe and Report" (the other mall-cop comedy last year). It was better than "Avatar".

I also saw "Run Lola, Run". For such a fast-paced movie, I confess it felt a little slow at times, and it bothered me that Lola was never out of breath. I did like it, though. I do enjoy films with video-game-like elements, and this one definitely had them. I think I've been spoiled, though, because "Crank" was so good. I mentioned the movie and described it to an Indian friend of mine. Unsurprisingly, he told me he was pretty sure there was an Indian rip-off of some sort. However, rather than small changes leading to different conclusions as in "Run Lola, Run", in the Indian version all changes ultimately lead to the same conclusion.

Oh yeah, and it was also way better than "Avatar".

No. I don't think he had ever heard of the film-- he just noted the similarities as I was describing it to him. When I told him about "Oldboy" he also told me that there was a bad Indian rip-off of that one as well.

Ah sorry I thought LRL was based off a Bollywood movie Hardly surprising considering India churns out a movie every 3 minutes. Would appreciate some Bollywood recommendations however.

Well, if you don't mind a rather Americanized Bollywood film, "Bride and Prejudice" was way better than one would expect. It's in English, but with a primarily Bollywood cast, and part of it takes place in the US. It keeps a lot of the standard Bollywood tropes. It's really weird to watch an Americanized Bollywood movie based upon a Victorian English novel.

I've only seen "Jab We Met" and "The Fog". The latter is like a Bollywood version of "I Know What You Did Last Summer".

I recommend both.

That reminds me... still gotta watch "Rang De Basanti".

I just finished watching "Chocolate". The only other Thai martial arts film I've seen is "Ong Bak", directed by the same guy. This film featured some remarkably high-impact action scenes, especially for an action film with a female lead.

The story, in my opinion, was definitely good enough for an action film. The main character is an autistic girl who, I guess, is supposed to be around fourteen.

I'll confess that the first couple of action scenes didn't do a whole lot for me, but they really got progressively better and better as the film progressed. They probably weren't quite as intense and insane as some of Tony Jaa's stuff, but they're still a lot better than what you'll typically see in any American film. The outtakes at the end are pretty brutal, and a lot of people bled before things were finished.

Oh, and there's an awesome song they play at one point during movie and over the ending credits. The only word is "fry" over and over again. I'm sure it's just a case of the whole Asian pronunciation thing, but it's pretty great.
